Drawing on his knowledge of the spirituality of St. Therese of Lisieux and his religious community's founder, St. John Baptist de La Salle and extensive experience as youth and adult educator, counselor, spiritual director and workshop presenter, Schmidt's book gives the average reader a clear and ready access to the simplicity and importance of praying on the basis of their everyday experiences. The importance of self knowledge and incorporating and opening up more and more of our true selves to the God of our prayer is highlighted again and again in different ways with accessible examples.
Our men's faith sharing group discussed this little volume for many weeks. The fifteen chapters lent themselves to weekly discussion. We considered the examples Schmidt used highly, effective in describing and facilitating experiential prayer and stimulating our discussion of our personal efforts to practice such prayer. I recommend the book highly.
Wonderfully written to any level of living!!
