PURCHASE GENUINE SANYO eneloop BATTERIES For more details click hereWHEN IS 1.2V BETTER THAN 1.5?
eneloop꿂onsistently High Voltage Level
The initial voltage level of a battery provides no indication of how long the battery will last or how much power it can deliver. Alkaline battery cells rapidly drop below 1.5V soon after they are put into use and the voltage continues to steadily decline over time.
Since alkaline cells are non-rechargeable, they must be discarded and then replaced. SANYO’s eneloop batteries deliver best-in-class Ni-MH high capacity power and are rechargeable up to 1500 times. Devices like cameras flash units and wireless game controllers can easily draw more than 1000mA of current; rapidly depleting alkaline batteries.
eneloop batteries maintain a consistently high voltage level keeping your devices operating for a longer period of time. When you use eneloop Ni-MH rechargeable batteries, you will realize that “1.2V” can indeed be better than “1.5V”.
WHY ARE ALKALINE BATTERIES 1.5V?
Regular disposable AA and AAA batteries are considered Primary Cells, and are most widely recognized as conventional “alkaline” batteries. There are two electrodes inside each cell; one is made of Zinc, known as the anode (the negative terminal) and the other is made of Manganese Dioxide, known as the cathode (the positive terminal). The electrodes are surrounded by an alkaline electrolyte, the chemical from which alkaline batteries get their name.
Battery chemistry of an alkaline battery generates 1.5V. As the chemical reaction fades, so does the power of the alkaline battery cell. This is why the voltage from alkaline batteries drops off shortly after the battery is put into use and the power continues to fade over time.
WHY ARE NI-MH RECHARGEABLE BATTERIES 1.2V?
Ni-MH rechargeable batteries have two electrodes inside the cell: Nickel and Mercury Hydride. Battery chemistry of an Ni-MH rechargeable battery generates 1.2V. While alkaline batteries experience rapid drops in voltage Ni-MH rechargeable batteries maintain the same voltage throughout most of the entire charge.
The chemical makeup of Ni-MH batteries eliminates the “memory effect”, which means the cells can be recharged at any time without having to be fully discharged.
eneloop batteries have continued to raise the performance bar in Ni-MH rechargeable technology. eneloop has increased “low self discharge” performance on Ni- MH rechargeable batteries which allows eneloop cells to store power for longer periods of time.
WHAT MAKES ENELOOP THE BEST RECHARGEABLE BATTERY
The new SANYO eneloop battery incorporates a highly-durable super-lattice alloy which lessens the deterioration of this important alloy material. This super-lattice alloy increases the electrical capacity of the battery chemistry through lower internal resistance and delivers a long lasting, stable voltage output.
A new strong, thin outer case has also been added to the eneloop battery design in order to improve the internal cell space efficiency. The new case optimizes the balance of the components and when combined with other improvements have led to an increase in the number of times that eneloop batteries can be recharged.
eneloop = LOWER COST OF OWNERSHIP
Wireless game controllers incorporate power-hungry features such as built-in speakers, gyroscopes and motion sensors. Consider the hidden cost of ownership in operating two wireless game controllers.
Let뭩 make the following assumptions:
- You play video games one hour per day or 365 hours per year, using two remote/wireless controllers.
- A pair of batteries (either alkaline or eneloop) will provide you with roughly 20 hours of game-play usage time.
- In the first year, you will need 18.25 pairs of batteries per controller (either new alkaline or recharged eneloops).
- You will consume 73 alkaline battery cells in one year (for two controllers) compared to only 4 eneloop cells which can be recharged 1500 times ($0.04 per cell).
- Four AA Alkaline batteries will cost roughly $5.49 MSRP.
- Four AA eneloop batteries with an AC charger will cost $21.99 MSRP.
Now let’s look at the annual cost of ownership in only the first few years and then extend it out to ten years (at that point, you probably won’t be playing on the same game system). It is quite obvious that eneloop more than pays for itself in just the first year of ownership!
TOTAL ANNUAL COST PER YEAR Year 1 Year 2 Year 3 Year 4 Year 5 Year 10 10 Year Total $24.75 Includes Charger $2.92 $2.92 $2.92 $2.92 $2.92 $51.03 $100.19 $100.19 $100.19 $100.19 $100.19 $100.19 $1,001.93 *Usage assumptions & cost calculations listed below.RECHARGEABLE BATTERY POWER YOU CAN RELY ON WHEN YOU NEED IT MOST!

eneloop꿚HE BIRTH OF A NEW TECHNOLOGY
For more than 35 years, SANYO has been a leading manufacturer of battery technology. In 2005 SANYO set out to develop a new type of rechargeable battery that would literally change the way people live, work and play. The result was eneloop, a rechargeable battery created with a very simple idea in mind: provide a common energy source that can be reused over and over again. This 뱇ooping energy?became eneloop. Today, eneloop battery cells are recognized by millions of consumers worldwide as the industry뭩 premier rechargeable battery.
eneloop’s “signature features” include ready to use rechargeable power with the ability to maintain 75% of their charge for up to 3 years (when not in use), can be recharged up to 1500 times, they have no “memory effect” and outstanding performance even in extremely low temperatures (down to -4 degrees F).
Americans deposit 8 billion disposable batteries into landfills each year! eneloop batteries can be recharged up to 1,500 times, which means that the purchase and use of a single eneloop cell can keep many hundreds of batteries from entering landfills! They can also be recycled free of charge at any of the 50,000+ Rechargeable Battery Recycling Corporation (RBRC) recycling centers near you.

eneloop Recharge Cost Assumptions and Calculations
0.144 Kilowatts @ 8 hours per 4 batteries
4 AA --- 1,500 recharges each
1,500 cycles x 8 hours each = 12,000 hours of AC power
0.144 KW x 12,000 hours = 1,728 KWH
1,728 KWH x $0.12 = $207.36
Initial product cost = $21.99 (4AA eneloop + 4 position charger)
Total cost of product and recharging = ($207.36 + $21.99) = $229.35
Total number of recharge cycles = (4 batteries x 1,500 each) = 6,000 recharges
Cost of recharge = ($229.35/6,000) = $0.038 (3.8?PER RECHARGE)
NOTE: Cost of electricity is based on 2010 national US average energy costs @ $0.12 per KWH

- So thought I would add that it has been going on a year and this items still works completely fine using it for my iMac mouse and keyboard batteries. One thing I can say that I really like is these batteries charge to full or long lasting very quickly. It seems like within an 30 minutes - an hour that they are at full charge for the last year consistently. Paying 40$ today would still be worth it.
PREVIOUS (3/14)
In short I was skeptical about these and now... I am satisfied.
I can say in using these solely for my iMac mouse that these batteries die quicker.
The first day I used them they said they were charged and started dying extremely fast. But that could be perhaps they needed a full charge coming from the shipping facility. After a full charge these batteries hold up very well. I do think they die just a little bit faster than some Dollar General batteries I picked up. But being able to recharge them makes all the needed difference.
I would say on consistent heavy mac use these batteries will last with no recharging about 4-5 (maybe 6) days. That is with about 15 hours of imac mouse use consistently every day and turning the mouse off when sleep. So you are looking at about 60-90 hours before a needed recharge. If your usage is anything less then of course this time before a recharge would increase.
I have been using these batteries for about 3 weeks and I am definitely satisfied and would definitely buy again.
The charged is fairly solid and works. Oh, I do wish the usb battery charge wouldn't have a huge blue blinking light to indicate when it is charging and when the batteries are done charging.
At night when these charger is running I have to lay the light face down on a table because the light is that bright at night. It's noticeable. I would rather have this just a simple low light indicator than a big strobe light, haha.
In brief, I bought the Sanyo AA USB Charger (discontinued - so get one while you can) to go with the Instapark 10 watt Solar Charger I ordered at the same time. For those who have asked, yes, they work very well together.
If you look at the unit, right above the battery slots is that flat area. Right BEHIND that plastic is the indicator light. I think this was really smart on Sanyo's part. Why drill a hole in the casing and make a special mount to hold the indicator light when it is bright enough to shine thru the plastic? Smart indeed.
The instructions tell you when the blue light is flashing slowly that it is charging, if it is flashing fast then there is something wrong with one of the batteries you put in it, and if it burns steady then charging is done. What it does NOT tell you is when the light flashes long, short, long, short, that it means the charger is not getting the full amount of electricity it wants. This was worked out by having it attached to the Instapark Solar Charger and moving it in and out of shadows, as well as switching it between the 1 amp port and the 2 amp port. Most people I know do not like to be surprised like that...
The flip down bar to allow aaa battery charging is nice, personally. For some reason I prefer it over other chargers. I also like that the cord is short, and there is a built in dock to hold the USB end.
Other than that one issue I am super happy that I spent the money for this. Not everything is USB compatible, and many things still need aa & aaa batteries: flashlights, bike lights, and so on. It bites to see products like this discontinued. Anyway, it does it's one job well. It charges batteries.
Unlike a stand-alone charger (which needs to be connected to an AC outlet), the MDU01S draws its power from the USB port of your laptop or PC. That's why the charger can be made so tiny, and you never have to search for yet another AC outlet. But you must make sure that the USB port is version 2.0 (which means it can supply up to 500mA) or later. Very old computers with USB 1.0 or 1.1 ports cannot be used. Also you should not plug it into an unpowered USB hub.
The MDU01S is a very well-designed USB charger. It offers several advantages over other similar products (such as the Rayovac USB Charger ):
- You can use it to recharge either 1 or 2 cells, whereas cheaper chargers often force you to charge in pairs only.
- It is a 'smart' charger that monitors the status of each cell independently, so there is no danger of over-charging the cell. Cheaper chargers usually have no charge-termination logic. They either charge at a low current forever, or rely on simple timer to stop charging.
- The charge time is relatively short for a USB-powered charger: roughly 2.5 hours for one AA cell, 5 hours for two.
Some additional notes about this charger:
- You can use it to recharge any brands of NiMH cells, not just Sanyo eneloop.
- You can charge either 1-2 AA cells, or 1-2 AAA cells. But you cannot do 1x AA plus 1x AAA at the same time.
- Charging current depends on the number of batteries. If you put just one cell in it, the charging current is 850mA. That means it takes about 2.5 hours to fully recharge one 2000mAh eneloop AA cell. But if you put two cells in it, the current drops to 450mA each. So now it takes about 5 hours to fully recharge 2 eneloop AA cells.
My only reservation about this package is that: currently there is an older package ( Sanyo Eneloop 2-AA NiMH Pre-Charged Rechargeable Batteries with USB Charger ) available at much lower cost. Both packages contain the same USB charger, just that the older package contains two first-generation eneloop AA cells. So essentially you're paying extra only for the two second-gen eneloop cells. I have tested both old and new eneloop cells, and found them to be almost identical electrically. In real life, most people will probably never experience the advertised benefits of new eneloop (such as 1500 cycles vs. 1000 cycles) anyway. Therefore in my opinion, the older package is actually a better value.
[Update on April 30, 2012]
As of recently, majority of the 2nd-gen (1500-cycle) eneloop packages are priced lower than their 1st-gen counterparts. So there's absolutely no reason not to go for the newer version now.
I like to add that all my 1st-gen eneloop cells are still working great. I just re-tested some eneloop AA cells which were in service for 4-5 years, and they still have 90-95% of their original capacities.

They work very well together. The charger fits in solar panel pouch.
On a clear sunny day I believe this combination out performs my house charger.
Delivery was on time as advertised. It's a very well engineered product in terms of materials used and the charging logic.
