You know that feeling when you're reading a book and enjoying it and then something out of the blue is thrown in that makes your Kindle tremble in fear that it's about to go airborne? 94% is when that occurred to me and my Kindle while reading Precarious. I will explain the 94% at the end of my review.

I'm a fan of Bella Jewel's, her writing is different, it's dark, quirky and sexy. I hesitated starting Precarious because of a few reviews I had read (yes I read spoiler reviews because I cannot handle certain things that have become popular in some books).

Precarious is a fast paced read. Ash and Krypt do not have an instant love, but they quickly realize there is something between them, something they have never felt before. Their chemistry is hot.

Ash she is a tough prison guard. She loves her job and is instantly drawn to sexy Krypt when he is brought in for murder. Which confuses her because she has never been attracted to an inmate before. I LOVED the fact that Ash was tough and she was very confident in her sexual desires. I was ecstatic that in Ash we got the rare ALPHA female who isn't naïve, timid, who is tough but still feminine and compassionate and who doesn't bow down to the big bad bikers. She gives as good as she gets. Which is why what happens at 94% pisses me off. Krypt is guarded, a badass and he won't talk about the murder he has been accused of. The male prison guards seem to have it out for him and Ash realizes it so she keeps her eyes and ears open to try to see what's going. Ash is told Krypt is being transported to another prison because he got into a fight and she is to accompany him on the transport. They are ambushed and Ash ends up on the run with Krypt.

2.5 stars.

I liked this book, but unfortunately there were two BIG problems that I can't get past: Ash and the ending.

I read this in one sitting, which says something for Bella Jewel's writing style. I'm a fan of some of her other MCs books, which is why I was excited for Precarious. However, I couldn't respect Ash. At all. In the beginning, I did, because she seemed like a strong woman who could hold her own, but who also had a soft side. But once she gets involved in club life, she becomes almost unrecognizable. She physically fought with a few members of the club just for s*** and giggles. If that's her thing, then power to her, but after a while it just got old. I mean, if I had a dollar for every ball grab she performed...yeah.

Also, she was a bit of a pushover for such a 'strong woman.' Some of the s*** that Beau pulled never really got dealt with. But she always went back to him. It's hard for me to like a character like that. He walked all over her (ie with the club whore and the whole Penny situation) and because she's such a 'strong woman,' she punished him...with sex. Okay? So, if he wants to get laid, he can just hurt her and make her angry? In what world does this make sense?

And then there's the ending. Threesomes aren't really my thing. Even though the scene between Maddox, Krypt, and Ash was erotic, it ruined the romance for me. Completely. The reasoning behind it was so warped (basically, Krypt was okay with it because she wasn't 'officially' his old lady But hey, it's some people's kink, just not mine.

I normally don't review books that I don't finish but the reason I didn't finish is important. I actually only got into the first chapter. Its important to state I am a female correction officer, so I know what I'm talking about. #1 - The author doesn't know the difference between a Prison, Jail and Holding facility. First thing the author is has a Prison taking in newly arrested inmate. Prisons house sentenced inmates. Un-sentenced inmates are kept in jails or holding centers. It makes a Big Difference.
#2 - Author states the prison isn't a maximum security prison (never states what level it actually is) but has a maximum floor. ***With men in cells cuffed and chained to the wall!!!! What???!!! That would be treating them like animals!!!
If the author can't get these 2 huge facts right at the very beginning I won't be reading anymore of this nonsense.

Precarious (Jokers' Wrath MC Book 1) And Bella did not hold back on the Steamy storyline. For those who have read her other MC series you will not be disappointed!
At first the impression is that Ash is this sassy, strong, independent, yet feminine corrections officer, and Krypt (aka Beau) as a raw, arousing take charge "mine" Alpha member of Joker's Wrath biker club. She does not hold back on showing sides of both the protagonists, Krypt's take charge, no apologies, biker club lifestyle & Ash's inner battle to maintain her independence, while (I think) craving all that Krypt was "laying down".

When the both finally submit to each other and the banter they had before, during, and after you I thought, she will fight herself not to give in to what he wants, and it will be a journey with (hopefully the ending being them together).
Krypt: "I like it rough, darlin'." Ash: "Don't they all," I mewl, sliding my hands under his shirt and feeling the hard, yet silky smoothness of his skin against my palms. Can you say, damn, expect some scorching hotness throughout this book! As the story unfolds, Bella weaves in secondary characters that I hope we see more of, like the "shy, whore" that Tyke is kind to and you could sense that she has a story and I hope we find out more.

The only reason I didn't give this a five star is I though the ménage wouldn't really happen because after Ash started spending time with Santana and she even suspected feelings is/was/could be there and she was shocked by her reaction when the "reveal" in the kitchen happened.

You will not be disappointed, no cliffhanger for Ash & Krypt and the way she leaves us the teaser for Santana & Biker Prez Maddox's story is just WOW....I was not guessing that was his secret, is it September 15, 2014 yet?
