I've used just about every portable tester out there over the years and this is my favorite by far. It only takes the minutest amount of blood for an accurate reading. I can use the shallowest setting on the pen device (translate to least amount of pain when pricking fingertips) and just the tiniest blood drop is enough to charge the testing strip. It will store readings by date and time for months if you (like me) don't always have the time to post your monitoring to a spreadsheet or web interface. I can post an entire month of fasting, post-breakfast, pre-dinner and bedtime in less than an half an hour by just clicking through the previous readings. The travel kit securely holds monitor, pen, and enough strips, alcohol pads and test needles to last a few weeks. Yet it is so small. And it has already lasted for over two years of daily use without any monitor or pen problems and no battery replacement. Also, the travel kit hasn't had any rips or tears or zipper problems; it is a really well-made kit.
The 45001 was the code from the coding strip indicated that it was calibrated. You need to use the test strips that you put blood into to get an actual test done.
Works fine for me no issues so far. Sometimes I get a bad strip, but not often.
