As an added bonus, the brand that makes this crate also makes machine-washable pet beds that fit their crates perfectly. The pet beds have plenty of cushioning while still being washable, which I love.
I have one crate out by the pool in the shade, since the dogs are outdoors with us during the days, enjoying the sunshine, and lawn. They enjoy playing, wear themselves out, and always leave the door open so our dogs can go in, and out when they wish. (This crate has two doors, one on the side, one on the end, with SECURE double latches, very convenient!) They prefer to nap in their crate, and feel safe there.
Dogs must be crate-trained from the beginning for their own protection and you need peace of mind. People who let their dogs, particularly new puppies, run loose are not doing the dogs a favor. Our dogs love their "houses", and sleep inside in these indoor crates each night. I have a baby 23 pound blue nose pit bull, and a 80 pound year old red nose and they both go into the crate and crash out together:)
I would not recommend buying the high dollar crate cushions if you have a new puppy. They have chewed through many on my watch, so now use sheets, and no chewed up cushions. I will buy another cushion for this crate after the puppy is finished teething.
This crate is built to last, and would not buy anywhere else.
works wonders in my home. It keeps a very smart 85 lb lab mix from getting into lots of
possibly dangerous things overnight as well as when we are away for short periods.
We use a polartec blanket, folded twice (nearly covers the bottom pan) and a bowl to clip in for water
(both can be purchased separately). My dog is happy with the size of the crate and walks into it voluntarily in the evening and when everyone is going away for short periods during the day. I'm delighted with this crate! We purchased it because this 2 yo dog was chewing many inappropriate
things (shoes, clothspins, opening vacuum sealed glass bottles, even opened a borax box once)
only when unsupervised, as he is tall and can reach quite a height on his hind legs...this crate
has totally eliminated the problem and the dog does not seem distressed with how we have solved the problem.
I would recommend this to anyone with a large dog that you need to crate. The size I have is 42 x 28 x 31 inches. It's plenty big and has enough room for my Lab to stretch inside. He loves it!
About an hour after putting my pups to bed, I was awaken by a sound that can only be described as a nightmare sound for any pet owner- a LOUDLY yelping puppy in her crate. I immediately rushed to see what the issue was. At first glance she seemed fine, she was just sitting there with a sad look on her face, so I went to pet her and she yelped out in pain, loudly and repeatedly, over and over; squirming because she didn't know what was wrong. Neither did I... until I saw that HER FOOT WAS IMPALED BY ONE OF THE CHEAPLY CONSTRUCTED VERTICAL METAL BARS. Apparently my 25lb 5 month old boxer pup was somehow able to kick one of the side bars and it came almost completely off the side where it was supposed to be welded on. The only part that held was the top of the bar, while the bottom of the bar stuck out freely and as a result she was able to get her paw through the opening that was created and then, I assume, when she tried retracting her foot the bottom of the bar impaled the area between her toes. When I say "impaled" I mean it, the bar went right through her soft tissue. I ended up cutting the bar off with wire cutters and removing the piece of metal from my pup's foot. It was an absolute nightmare and afterwards I immediately went out the next day and bought them both different kennels.
Some points to consider about my story-
A) I read and followed all guidelines and they had been using the crates for months without issue (although apparently after 5 months of age puppies are strong enough to kick out the bars).Read more ›

It is just the right size, but it is not as sturdy as they used to be made. So far it's holding but not sure if it will last as long as they used to.Published 1 month ago by Amazon Customer
