Now THIS book has meat on the bones and history, geo-political info and a plausible story-line that is ripped right out of U.S. Doomsday sayers in Yellowstone National Park. It’s not happening in the U.S. and everything is so intriguingly foreign and the characters so fundamentally flawed and heroic and basically just trying to live life that you’ll be grabbed by the soul and hope to hang on for the entire ride. Every farfetched idea made sense. Each act of cowardice or pride was understandable and the heroes are people like you and me. Real – Intense – worth every moment as Gaiserich builds a world so brutal, only the most determined of this earth can survive. As told by the American ex-mercenary Ciarán, the story clearly revolves around his lost hopes, the present obstacles and the people that give him hope for a future. This is some tough combat, questionable idealism and just plain faith that there has to be a reason to continue living every day. I’m sorry this book ends as I’d love to continue following the excitement, drama and pain so humanly written.
