An MCT oil comparison (fractions of other brands listed) and my personal experiences

SHORT REVIEW: Left Coast is a superb MCT oil—and I've tried many, including Brain Octane (which I also love). For me: Measurable blood ketone boost when I'm cycling OFF my ketogenic diet, brain fog clears up and strong memory & cognitive boost (I'm a health and psychology writer), and no GI side effects on an empty stomach. In "fractional fatty acid" composition, it's very similar to Bulletproof XCT at a much lower price. I've been using it daily for over 11 months now. Also: If you care about small-batched, high-quality-controlled sources of your foods and supplements, then family-owned businesses like Left Coast are worth supporting. Disclaimer: I am in no way affiliated with Left Coast or any resellers—just a guy who cares about the health of myself, my friends, and my family.

LONG REVIEW FOR CONFIRMED BIO-HACKERS ONLY (C8 to C18 BREAKOUT COMPARISONS WITH SOME OTHER BRANDS I'VE USED):

With 1 Tb (tablespoon) of this plus 1 Tb butter in coffee, zero appetite for 4-5 hours. Perceptible boost from fatigue and brain fog, better short-term memory (about 13% when measured on luminosity's online app). When I'm OFF my HFLC (high fat, low carb) ketogenic diet, my Precision Xtra ketone blood meter shows 2-4 mmol/L over 0.5 baseline, after about 2 hours.

This gives me a similar ketone boost as Left Coast MCT oil, but I've stopped using it mainly because I'm hoping that maximum C8 and C10 per serving in other products will help my brain and physical stamina more.

Are all those non C8 & C10 fractions (Lauric, Myristic, Palmitic, Oleic) “bad?” Controversial topic to be sure. Authors like Bruce Fife ("The Coconut Oil Miracle") and Mary Enig (biochemist and author of "Eat Fat, Lose Fat") cite benefits to whole coconut oil (anti-inflammatory effects, microbiome balancing, anti-fungal and anti-bacterial effects against harmful microbes, etc.). I'll leave the conclusions here for you to make.

You can't get a better product for the price! It has MC8 and MC10 strains. MONTH LATER UPDATE at the bottom

I have recently started back on my Bulletproof regiment, and wanted to try something other than just coconut oil. I have done a lot of research on the various MCT strains (MC06, MC08, MC10, MC12), and learning about the benefits of those closer to the lower end of the spectrum. This product was the only one that I saw (within my budget) that housed MC08. The next step up was double the price, in other competitors.

The packaging was nice. I like the bottle as well. I received this item on Wednesday and immediately started my regiment (one BPC in the morning, before work). WOULD LOVE TO SEE A PUMP ADDED TO THE PACKAGE. I'D PAY MORE FOR THE ADDITION.

The oil is scent free, tasteless, and is a thinner oil (would compare it to grapeseed oil in consistency). it's also clear. SO EASY to go overboard with this, but I stuck true to the 1Tbsp per coffee.

I have noticed in only three days of taking the MCT oil:
More energy. Kinda like it's refining the energy that coffee gives me anyway.
Suppressed appetite. That lasts from 6:30 till about 10:30. I'm not hungry during that time. I'm not jittery during that time (which I have to watch because I have a pacemaker...so a bit more squeamish on those things that might mess with the ticker).
I do not have an upset stomach after it either.
No obnoxious or out of the ordinary Bowel Movements and/or Gas (let's face it, yall need to know, right?).
About 15 minutes after drinking the BPC, I get a tightening in my temples. Not a headache, just a tightening. Kinda like wearing a headband or a pair of sunglasses...that feeling that you know something is on your head. I did some research and that CAN be one of the side effects of MCT oil. It can be a result of many things. All I can say is (like anything you put into your diet) DO YOUR RESEARCH!

Did you know that MCT oil can kill off Candida Yeast? I found that out while doing my own research. That could also bring on headaches.

I'm really enjoying this product.

PS- This is my own review. I did NOT review this under the agreement of a discount or hand out. I purchased this item at the purchased price, and am giving an honest review . I feel it's important that there are honest, non-solicited reviews for customers to search through. I for one look for such reviews.

6/2/16 UPDATE:
LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS OIL! I have just repurchased the oil and now have my husband taking it. I have not had a migraine since starting the oil. I'm not saying that it's the oil, but I'm pretty sure it is. heehee. I have weather-prompted migraines. We are in the height of sporadic weather, and not one migraine from it. I should see if there is a monthly subscription to this. I STILL WISH THERE WAS A PUMP ADDED TO THE PRODUCT... just throw it in and charge a bit more for it. i'll gladly pay the extra... or even sell it as an add on item. it would be well worth it! :)

Another great addition to morning protein shakes

There is no taste so you can put this with just about anything. The only thing to be careful about is if you're new to using MCT oil. Don't take more than is suggested on the bottle starting out. I also recommend blending these Omega Plus – 4x Strength Complete Fish Oil Supplement with Omega 3’s in with shakes or just taking with water. Very Happy with this product. Unlike other fish oils I've tried this one has no aftertaste or that fishy burp a half hour later. Great Price. Fast Shipping. Keep up the Good work Nutratech.

NOW here's a better oil

Great oil, I have been using NOW oil for over a year and wanted to try something new. Here are the differences I noticed. First there is zero taste to this oil while NOW always has a very slight bitter taste to it. Second, if I took more than 2 tablespoons of NOW oil throughout the morning I would get a knot in my stomach for a while. I have zero GI issue with Left Coast oil. It really does feel better to me than the NOW brand. Solid 4.95 Stars. I would give it 5 stars if it was in a glass bottle, BPA-free or not glass is still superior.

Great affordable MCT Oil

This is a very good product! The taste (or lack thereof) is perfect and much more tolerable than competitors. E.g. Viva labs MCT oil has an odd taste to it which makes it less tolerable. I also like the MCT content of this product (C8 and C10) although there are conflicting sites out there suggesting that lauric acid (C12) is the healthiest. I've come to believe that the smaller chains are better. Hope this helps!
