For sewing and grabbing the ends of thread when threading needle on machine, I have these tweezers: https://www.amazon.com/forum/-/Tx1IVI15BNAJNJ4/ref=ask_dp_dpmw_al_hza?asin=B000WHY8KE. They are the best.....beveled end that is sharpened to grasp any fine thread (or hair!). I use MonoPoly clear thread to machine quilt with, which requirs pulling the end farther through the needle each time the automatic thread cutter does it's job, and I can't grasp the end with my fingers. (sometimes I can hardly see it because it's clear). These tweezers are indispensable to me when sewing or quilting on the machine. Great help when ripping out also; after clipping every inch or two, use these tweezers to grasp and pull on the bobbin thread. They day I took them from my medicine cabinet to my sewing machine was the best thing I ever did. I've had mine about 10 years. Tweezerman are exceptionally well made.
While they definitely are not of the calibre used in medical offices, they fit the bill nicely and at a cost that made me skeptical of their quality. Fear not, they will soon become indispensable in your home as well.
