I lost the USB cable for my Olympus SP500Z, and no computer I can find has a slot for the unusual type of xD card that Olympus uses. So I went on Amazon looking for either a cable or a card reader, and found both. I chose the Premium Olympus stylus 730 because it was cheap, about $7. I know, I know, that's often a recipe for disaster. However, the Premium worked right out of the package. The computer recognized it, and I was able to move about 300 photos from the card to my computer very simply. The product is compact with a plastic cap for the USB port, and it comes in a little plasticine pouch. It's a nice white color, and it works. What else could one ask for?
There are similar products on Amazon for up to $28, but, unless I got the only that works, I would recommend this one.

First of all, it's not from Olympus as stated in the title. It's a generic card reader from who knows where.

Next, it's definitely not premium as it claims to be. It is cheaply made (and that's why it's cheap).

Lastly, it's not even an XD card reader!!! I have a lot of old XD cards and they won't fit.

THIS THING IS A MEMORY STICK READER! Yes, I tried my old Memory Stick Pro Duo cards and they all fit and it can read them all, but none of my XD cards would fit inside! I don't know if they sent me a different item because the other reviewers here never mentioned anything about their XD cards not fitting in, but what I received is the exact same item in the photos, and with that pretty obvious "XD" label in its face.

I don't know if it's even worth the hassle of contacting Amazon to return this (and I know they will easily take it back). I'll probably keep it as a reader of my Memory Stick Pro Duo cards even if I already have two of those.

While the xD Card failed to become as popular as SD Cards, I have a number of xD Cards which contain files that I continue to access. In addition, xD Cards can continue to be utilized as storage media, and therefore being able to access their contents is important to me. The Olympus xD Card Reader allows my xD Card collection to retain its value.

I figured this one would HAVE to work since it ONLY does XD cards. I've got at least a half-dozen card readers, about half of which claim to read XD, but only one that actually works - and it's fickle. So I bought this inexpensive ready to make sure I'd be able to download future images from my Fujifilm camera (the other, compatible, brand that uses XD).

Only used it once so far, but it works exactly like it should. I guess I should give it 5 stars, but it doesn't feel super rugged and it doesn't qualify for the Prime shipping, but it's hard to complain. Recommended.

I have purchased 3 of these little card readers now, and all 3 of them work perfectly.

I lost the cord for my Olympus camera, and my laptop didn't have as XD slot, so I went looking for a replacement cord. Instead I bought this little reader, because it was MUCH cheaper and the reviews were good. I'm very happy that I did! I have since purchased 2 more so that I can keep one with each computer that I transfer pictures from my camera on to. Takes up a lot less space than a cord, and lets me transfer pictures without having to go through the camera--a definite plus when the camera battery dies, as a dead camera will not connect to the computer via the cord. If I had one complaint, it would be that the clear cap is easy to misplace and lose if you don't pay careful attention to where you put it while using the card reader. I haven't lost one yet, but I know it's just a matter of time.

I received this in just a couple of days. The only negative is that it's a bit wide, so it nearly blocks the USB slot next to it, but I was still able to use both slots with a little squeeze. I slid in my xD card, plugged in the reader, and voila! Pictures appeared on my Mac. Works as advertised. Some reviewers have said the reader feels/seems/looks cheap. To me, it appears tough enough to do the job. I'll keep it capped with the plastic safety cover that comes with it and store it with my camera... I don't foresee any problems with its construction.

My old PC has slots to read almost every card ever invented, but my MacBook has no slots at all; and, as many less expensive card readers don't read xD cards, I was looking at the Sony multi-reader for about $22. Don't need it now. I'll just dump my CF card and get a dirt-cheap thumb drive for portable external storage.

My overall opinion: This card reader was under $5 including shipping. It's worth twice that, and does the job quickly and efficiently.

The title says it all. If I had to do it over I would have searched for a better (faster) product. Transferring only 40 pictures from my card to my computer using this device took about 1 min. Most other card readers I've used could have done that in about 10 seconds. I'm glad I didn't have to transfer more pictures.

This is limited to an XD memory card but is exactly what is needed for an Olympus camera or some Fujis. It is a little wide and so it takes up the space to the USB port next to it. It works fine otherwise.
