The author claims to be a trauma surgeon. I don't have anyway to verify that, but given the quality of the advice and the solid thinking presented in the book, I have no reason to doubt him.
The book talks about some of the more likely problems one might run into in a bad situation where real medical treatment is not available, and presents some ideas on how one might deal with such situations. It does not waste a lot of time on trying to go over things that are not going to be helpful in such a situation.
It has a fair number of illustrations, but they are not as helpful as one might hope, given the poor way the Kindle and Kindle apps deal with images.
I only noticed a few typos here and there.
The author gives some very good advice about not advertising whatever medical skills or equipment you might possess.
