The author is well-versed in the art of frugality, but for me, the techniques described were nothing new. A few examples:
Don't be fooled by different packaging quantities at varying stores - pay attention to the price per ounce.
Plan menus for cooking home meals, but modify as needed if you get to the store and different items are on sale.
Rotate your stock of canned goods so they don't expire.
All common sense stuff. I mostly wouldn't recommend this book, except maybe to a younger reader, or somebody in the initial stages of disaster preparedness.

Great lists, wonderful photos, recipes make it easy to either take baby steps to build a pantry or to round out what may be an existing pantry that can work for most emergencies. I like to think I have just about everything I need for any emergency but missed a few things that I will be definitely be adding. Lovely book!

I just love this prepping book! The author takes you through, step by step, EXACTLY what you can do, to build up your pantry for those unexpected disasters, a loss of a job, or bad weather times when the power goes out. This book is full of great information to find, build, and use your pantry to cook home made wholesome foods for your family. . This book, along with her other one, "The Prepper's Canning guide" are the only 2 you would need to have, to learn EVERYTHING you need to, to grow, buy, can and prepare all your foods for healthy wholesome meals.

Well, as far as it goes, this is a nice collection of ideas. I think if I was just starting out on my journey to be prepared this book might have shared useful information for me. Hence the three stars. The author seemed sincere and had a great life story to share to compel readers to heed her advice. I was looking for more nitty gritty details, charts and storage updates. There wasn’t one moment when I thought that’s something I want to remember or that’s an idea to try. Not that her ideas weren’t solid but they were pretty simplistic and available everywhere. So, enjoy if you’re just starting out but give it a hard pass if you’ve been at this a while.

A good purchase before the corona crisis hit. The book serves as a good basis on how to start prepping and keeping a good well stocked pantry. It’s meant for the hardcore peepers but it’s got some good sound advice.
