I love this book. It is extremely interesting and packed with information. I am reacting now to a YouTube conversation between preppers and the normal population. Since preppers feel so marginalized and judged they tend to be nasty toward those who don't prep. They call non-preppers stupid and they say they have no sympathy for those who didn't prep for COVID-19. Someone tried to defend themselves saying they lived paycheck to paycheck and couldn't prep. Some prepper said this was no excuse and that prepping could be as expensive as you want it to be. Uh..not sure about that. You want to be fully prepped for something like a pandemic, you are spending what is to many working-class people, a very pretty penny. Especially since we are not sure exactly WHAT pandemic we are prepping for, we have to be prepped for many possible ones. And that is why every man for himself prepper mentality is kinda useless to general society. Why can't we be prepared to care for our neighbors too? But I am glad to see many others willing to bring their talents to the table right now during COVID-19. We don't all know how to sew but you don't see people that do know hoarding all their talents to just care for their families. Similarly, those who have the skill to grow and tincture a variety of uncommon herbs could plan to be the herb person should people around them start to fall sick. Others could sew masks. Others could make bleach solutions. Others could bring out their massive stores of rice and beans. Others could bring their electrical skills. We could each decide about our role in a society that isn't working the same way anymore. THat's just a thought.

In this book Cat Ellis has compiled a bevy of information regarding what to do in case of an infectious outbreak following a disaster. She details many types of pandemic diseases, which she divides from threat level 1 to threat level 3, which may occur, and what to do if modern medicine/facilities are not available. I love the amount of natural remedies and preventions there are in this book, and they are all explained in a no nonsense straightforward way. Of course, it's best to not get sick in the first place, and Ellis includes the most common ways of getting sick, and how to avoid them, for each type of sickness she covers. A good, informative, important book.

I’ve heard great things about this book and decided to pick it up and see if there was anything worth looking into. You never know when an epidemic might happen so it’s always a good idea to know what you can do to protect yourself. I loved the intro to Ebola – it gave the book a certain amount of reliability knowing about things more in depth from the us government response to protocol etc – the information itself was very helpful. In general I really loved the formatting of the book – it goes from informative to educational and does a great job of making sure you know terms before diving in. This is a great book but definitely has me a little more fearful then I did before. I had no idea about half the things that could cause series outbreaks and for that knowledge can be scary but knowledge is also power. Great book.

With the recent Ebola outbreak causing tragedy after tragedy, the world has come face to face with the very real threat of a pandemic. Cat Ellis has written an excellent book outlining many different types of Pandemic scenarios and how best to deal with them, she has gone so far as detailing different diseases and their threat level. This book gave me practical knowledge about avoiding the contraction of various diseases as well as ways to prevent the spread of said diseases. From Influenza and Staph to the plague, this book covers it all. I think this is a great book to read, if only to better inform yourself on this very important topic.

This books provides a good overview, an understanding of the background, origins, and response to a Pandemic.
Frankly, it’s truly scary how fragile and ill prepared the world, our governments, and we are in preparing for the next inevitable pandemic.
As I write this, the world is fighting the COVID-19 Coronavirus that is ravaging the worlds population.
