Progressive International is your source for the widest range of functional, inventive, and fun kitchen tools and great ideas put into practice. Our in-house designers spend hours in the kitchen coming up with ways to improve on a variety of traditional tasks and tools. Established in 1973, our commitment to quality and service allows us to offer a broad selection of quality kitchenware and other household products. Simply mount this apple machine to your counter and peel, core and slice apples in seconds. It is a perfect machine for making pie fillings and healthy snacks. Made out of cast iron, it includes a comfortable hardwood handle and an extra peeling blade. Wipe clean.
This odd-looking contraption peels, cores, and slices a basket of apples for a tarte, a crisp, or fritters in less time and with less effort than can be done by hand. The old-fashioned apple peeler has a suction cup bottom to keep it steady on a work surface and a clamp to secure it to the edge of a counter or cutting board. To use, skewer an apple on the end of the apple peelers three-pronged fork with the tines positioned around the core of the apple. Next, swing the arm that holds the peeling blade toward the apple so its just grazing the skin. Start turning the apple corers hand crank and the machine simultaneously removes the apples skin and core while cutting it into narrow slices that are perfect for pie and desserts or dehydrating. A release button helps you to easily remove your finished apple from the fork. This apple peeler/corer is made of sturdy aluminum and weighs four pounds. Progressive provides an extra blade with the tool and covers it under a five-year warranty. --Cristina Vaamonde

The first day I used this new tool - WOW! FAST! Couldn't see much beyond that.
The second day I realized it was poorly machined, and the peeling blade could not be properly adjusted for depth of cut because the piece behind it is not the right shape, so the blade takes too deep a cut when it first bites into the fruit and is cutting from the side of the blade. Also, the handle on the crank kept falling off.
By day three I was keeping a screwdriver next to me on the counter to tighten the handle screw every four or five pears, had tried endlessly and without success to adjust the peeling blade properly, had noticed that the white bushings were being worn away and were leaving little white shavings on the counter every time I drew back the peeler to mount a new pear, and then one of the spikes on the mounting unit where you stick on the fruit fell out, and I had to hammer it back in.
This tool clearly will not last very long, but it wasn't that expensive and certainly does speed up fruit processing. I won't buy another made by this company, and when the bushings wear out or some other part fails I'll try a different brand because - WOW! FAST!
This unit is inferior in just about every way. The design is OK, but you can tell it is of cheap Chinese manufacture. Castings aren't aligned, or casting lines in stupid places. Very poor grinding on the blades. The threaded clamp rod wasn't drilled and tapped straight.
It does process apples, and does an acceptable job of it. I will keep it because it does work as a backup or to have 2 units going.
I would recommend you get the Norpro instead.
The frame, clamp, and turn screw are good. It is easy to clean if you do it before it dries.
Except for the blade, it is easy to maintain and works well. I would recommend it. I would like to see if I can get the end-blade replaced.
