Update: we've using this item fore several months now and noticed that the surface starts to bend quite significantly. Cook's Illustrated actually does not recommend this board. They recommend Island Bamboo 40702 Over the Sink Cutting Board Green instead, which is more expensive but a lot sturdier. I, therefore, lowered my score from 5 to 3 stars.
The colander section completely pops out, and is not affixed. It just rests in the hole. It is small- not including the boarder, it measures 7"x3 1/2". The white part of the cutting board is 16"x10".The green bar, when extended, adds up to 9 1/2 inches.
You may want to measure your sink and imagine where the cutting board would sit before ordering it. Below are the details of my sink and how I use this cutting board.
I have a double sink with an opening that measures 14" on each side. The metal rim of my sink is small, only 1" in the center and a bit smaller on the sides- so not much room for the cutting board to rest on. The sink is set into a granite countertop--so the sink is 1" under the countertop. The bar does not extend far enough for me to rest the cutting board on the granite.
I can balance the cutting board between the sink rim that sits below the granite boarder and the center metal division between my two sinks. The green bar that extends isn't needed for this. It is more secure if I set the cutting board on the granite and extend the green bar so that it sets just beyond the middle division between my two sinks. This means you are cutting at a slight incline, but it feels secure. The green bar, when fully extended, does not reach to the opposite side of the second sink.
I especially love the ability to collapse the cup and run everything through the dishwasher.
Great cutting board.
Adjusts to multiple lengths.
Great concept on the strainer attached.
Strainer is collaspable
Rubber bottoms to keep the board in place fall off right away.
Strainer doesn't stay in place.
Strainer moves/fall out constantly.
Strainer and cutting board were much small than it looked
Doesn't waste the $$. I don't even use mine anymore. A regular cutting board is much better but the concept was great!

I purchased this item in March 2016. The concept is excellent. It fits across the sink and makes it easy to cut and chop items. My issue is with the cutting board itself. Read morePublished 11 days ago by Steve Tuchten
I use this board almost daily. The colander comes out for easy cleaning. The end extends to fit almost any size sink. Read morePublished 16 days ago by Roger Gibson
The board itself is actually quite small when you realize that there is a hole taking up a third of the space. Read morePublished 23 days ago by labougeotte
The actual cutting surface is small and the colander is flimsy, falls into the sink very easily. I am returning this product as fast as I can.Published 1 month ago by Renae Tollefson

This has been very helpful for when my other cutting boards are in use. I also like that the strainer part can be removed as I can cut some foods right over the in-sink disposal... Read morePublished 1 month ago by Amazon Customer
