Gosh what a start that was. Ahem. We have seen Riley in stages throughout the books. In each one he is clever, amusing, and quite endearing. No need to sum up the blurb. In order to keep this spoiler free we met Riley's Someone Special or SS as I'd like to call her. I also liked her smart and snappy, sweet and salty (see what I did there?). Even better they fit in their atypical ways and really worked, not that I had any doubt with the author. It's one of those first meetings that leaves an impression. I could probably go on and on how awesome and hot they are with doses of sweet and sexy. They were just everything. I'm completely smitten with all the wonkyness of these two. I love that Riley is not bashful at all honest with whatever he is feeling or on his mind. He has a self deprecating manner in which he hides sometimes too. I loved this passionate side of him and just that all out feeling that the author did well. Seeing how this guy evolved and sorta matured,, seeing him come to his own just makes me happy. I never expected to swoony over him as much as I did but dang son. I also appreciated his PoV cause it was vastly amusing his way of thought is fascinating.
This unusual not so appropriate arrangement was start of a wonderful thing. It paced with a delicious burn making progression more steamy. A more confident guy makes for stronger on in a relationship he may stumble along the way. He holds in his own now which is always refreshing and much needed for SS. How writer lady incorporated the shenanies and humor in between everything making it all balance, it all because of that. I really think the idea that things have to fall apart before they can put back together is very apropos here. Stronger the next time around. Of course the entire Walsh clan make this even better. I missed everyone and just loved them. Riley's relationship with his people makes me smile. Family sticks together.
As always, fantastic, smart story with sassy characters that just stand out in their own way. Kate Canterbary's style is always one I truly enjoy and makes me look forward to each release. The writing is spot on plus the combination of various elements that blend well makes for a great read. It was romantic and hot and sweet as it was heartwarming and fun. It's just sooooo good go forth and grab a bite out of Riley!
Preservation is so well written that there are many, many highlights in my copy—and I am not a highlighter. You will discover bakeries and bars you want to visit if you’re ever in New England, insights about family and humanity, hilarious lines, and romantic pronouncements and thoughts that may well provoke tears. One of the things I loved about Preservation, which is true of Kate Canterbary’s writing in general, is that it takes many of the tropes and characteristics of romance novels and turns them on their sides. There is a moment in which the two main characters, who are friends pretending to be in a relationship at the time, discover that their hotel reservation has been mixed up and they have one hotel room instead of two. This is a very common plot device in romance, but it felt completely new to me, as though I hadn’t read 7,553 other books with mixed up hotel reservations. Another bit I adored is that the hero loves the smell of the heroine’s hair—and when he asks her what the smell is, she answers, “purple… Not grape, purple. Just smell it again, and you’ll get it.” There are a million tidbits just as charming and highlight-worthy. And for some reason YOU, dear reader, are still reading this review. Stop reading reviews and read the book. Take your time and savor it, then plan to spend more time re-reading, and some more time dipping in and out of the book. Preservation is a remarkable book, and a phenomenal reading experience.
Since the very first Walsh story, we have watched Riley Walsh, the youngest of the brothers, play a part in all of his siblings big moments. We have watched him grow in the family business. We have watched him endure heartbreak. He is the keeper of all of the secrets, the not so serious brother, the guy who is always in the wrong place at the wrong time. Finally, we get to see life in this crazy wonderful family from his point of view.
What will you get from reading Preservation? Each reader is different, but I'm happy to tell you what the story gave me. The writer took an imperfect person and made him into the perfect book boyfriend. Riley Walsh is so real. He's the guy who spills things, who has a constant wardrobe malfunction of some sort, who is the butt of many jokes and the mess of many situations. But he's loyal and he's sexy (oh so sexy) and he's smart. In addition to your new BBF, you get someone special. She's strong, smart, career driven, independent and witty. She brings her own baggage and flaws, but is perfect for Riley, in my eyes and in his.
As with every story in the series, we catch glimpses of the other Walsh characters we love. We get lots of sibling love and banter. We get some ah-ha moments and some surprises. We get the Kate Canterbary writing style that is full of pop culture references, emotions, wit, and engaging dialogue. We get everything.
Can you read this as a standalone? Sure, but I wouldn't. Start from the beginning. Savor each book. Soak it up. Don't worry, RISD and I will be waiting for you.

If you're a regular romance reader, you need to know this isn't a regular romance. It's so much more than that. It'll break your heart, make you laugh, make you annoyed, eventually make you satisfied in a way only great romances can.
The final Walsh is finally getting the ending us fans have all been waiting for. His special someone is special indeed. She sees beyond, the man-child, messy, messed up labels assigned to him by those around him. She sees his pure heart and grabs it for herself. That is one lucky woman imo 💕
To say this author and the Walsh series has become a favourite is truly an understatement. She and they now hold a ratified slot on my all time list. For an author who has only produced 8 books so far to have captured me so completely is rare. I read A LOT, for example, my Goodreads challenge figure this year is to read 500 books. I believe I know a good book from bad and I recognise a great book when I read it.
There is such an unjust perception that romance fiction is fluffy and without substance, this author blows that misconception out of the water. The Walsh series is truly some of the best writing available. Kate Canterbary never dumbs down, it is by turns sophisticated and sexy equally.
Speaking of sexy, prepare yourself for fanning of the face, a salacious grin and happy finish. I knew Riley would be an animal in the bedroom but even I was impressed by his prowess.
If you haven't read the preceding six books in the Walsh series, do yourself a favour and start from Underneath It All. Once you've devoured them, move on to the audiobooks of the series. I guarantee it'll give you a even more hours of enjoyment. 💜
As I conclude this review, I should be feeling bereft that the six lost Walshes have finally found their way home. It must mean the end of this beautifully crafted series, right? But I comfort myself with the thought that there is always Tom... 😁😇
I feel like I owe this woman some money for the hours of pure pleasure she have given me. 😏
Out of all the Walsh's this is the one I've been anticipating most Riley and her who shall not be named yet has a massive place in my heart. From his loose shirt to his unzipped pants and odd socks if he has any on. We've only been given small pieces of him that Kate wants us to know.
Now it's his turn to give us a little insight as to who Riley Walsh really is.
After years of being to baby the time has come for Riley to show the eldest Walsh's that he has what it takes to be a part of the architecture company. But can Riley overcome the one thing he has on his mind 24/7 that is forbidden or is there someone else would can deflect his attention.
Give Kate's books ago I promise you won't be disappointed.
It was sweet and evenly paced, again abuse hinted at but not fully explained.
The Walsh family are survivors of abuse.
Riley is in love with Lauren his sister is law, there was a few paragraphs and a small chapter dealing with it but again it needed more.
The love story between Alex and Riley was good, honest despite how they initially got together and endearing.
I liked the storyline. Well written and engrossing, I just wanted more because each Walsh story didn't expand more.
Shannon, erin and Riley got the worst of it from their father each book hinted but never fully explained.
If you haven't read the series, start at the beginning&you won't regret that decision. You will fall for every one of the Walsh men (Sam is my favourite, but Riley. . .oh Riley!!)
All beautifully written and worthy of the time it takes to get to know the amazing Walsh men&women plus their stunning partners!
