Preserve Colanders feel different than other colanders: they're smooth yet easy to hold. Pick one up and you'll see. The angled hole design allows contents to drain and empty quickly and efficiently. They are made from heavyweight plastic and are designed to stand the test of time. It is better for our environment to invest in one colander that will last a lifetime, rather than having to replace ones that crack, rust or break. What's not to love? The large, 3.5-quart size is great for draining large pots of pasta or washing a meals worth of vegetables. Preserve has been putting big ideas into small packages and finding smarter ways to make everyday products since 1996. Preserve recycles and makes all of our products in the USA. With a "Powered by Leftovers" philosophy, Preserve turns yogurt cups into toothbrushes and take-out containers into cutting boards. All Preserve products for the kitchen, table and bathroom are performance-driven, stylish and made from 100% recycled materials. Whether short-order or gourmet, good cooking depends on good tools. Preserve Kitchen offers beautifully designed items that make a statement in any kitchen. Cooks like them because they are dishwasher safe and stand up to everyday use, and the earth loves them because they're made from 100% recycled BPA-free plastic and post-consumer recycled paper.
Preserve colanders are made in the USA from 100% BPA free, recycled #5 plastic. The Preserve Large Colander holds 3.5 quarts and is easy-gripping, fast draining and dishwasher safe. You won't believe how sturdy it is!
Top Customer Reviews
The overall design is solid as well, the handles are deep enough for your fingers to get a comfortable grip, but it is the same thickness throughout so it always feels sturdy. And the little "foot" on the bottom means I can set it in the sink to pour the larger pots of pasta without it lolling to one side or the other.
And so far, it hasn't shown any major issue with scratches like a lot of plastic bowls and colanders seem to.
I have been pleasantly surprised by how well this colander has performed, and it seems like it should last for a good long while.
Construction is solid and so is the footing so there's no worry about it being knocked over. I'm very glad there are drain holes on the bottom. I made the mistake once of buying a colander that collapses for storage. It had no holes on the bottom (just on the sides) which made it rather useless. I tossed it out
The color is perky and pretty.
I was so impressed by the colander I went online to see what else this company makes. I bought a cutting board, which I LOVE, and cups and dishes which I had no idea my family would use every day. What a find!
I get Amazon Fresh (blueberries, bell peppers, etc.) and wash and rinse them in this very nice colander (love the red!). I, of course agree with everyone else BUT I also have some other uses for it. I use the colander and a Preserve red plate under it (nice match) to dry all the Organic spinach, and broccoli I consume from Amazon. I dump the leftovers (hate stems!), let them sit (tickle them a bit from time to time (they dry quickly and then toss in the trash)).
Also, I use this colander to drain my coke cans (or whatever I drink?) before I toss them in the trash. I'll fill the cans with water and then place the cans upside down to drain???
I'm in college and my boyfriend and I have started a tradition of making Mac n' Cheese on Sundays for dinner. I bought this colander because my last one was crap, and I thought it would work perfectly. Sadly, as I was shaking water out of the macaroni noodles, quite a few slipped right out and into the sink.
Other than minor pasta slippage, this colander seems to be great! Lightweight, sturdy, easily fits in a sink, easy to wash, and a great color!
