I'm in the wine industry, and have wanted a small fridge to keep some quality wines close at hand. I ordered one of these units thinking it seemed kind of cool to have the features of chilling and preserving in one unit - boy was I wrong. The original (first one I had) unit just stopped working after about 7 months. One day, I went to grab a bottle and the motor had stopped, the unit was not chilling, the blue light was blinking and my expensive wine was in danger.

I contacted the customer service department after locating the warranty info (this came with a one year warranty), who gave me a really, really hard time before agreeing to replace the unit. They denied I had ever sent the warranty card in, told me my unit was not eligible for replacement, blah blah. They finally agreed to send me a new one after several emails and phone calls, but they seemed convinced I was trying to cheat them out of one of these spectacularly crappy things, so would only send it if I emailed a picture of myself cutting the power cord - which I did.

The new unit worked for about six months before the exact same thing happened, and the unit again displayed the blinking blue light of death, and no longer chilled. When I contacted the Preservino customer service again - they replied by telling me the unit now had a 90 day warranty (I guess too many were breaking after 6 months), and that electrical spikes can cause the unit to stop working (a handy little fact that, if true, would be better told to customers BEFORE a unit breaks). I have no idea if both of these units got a zap of electricity, but I have laptops in use at the home, as well as lots of other appliances, and no zaps have effected any of those. I think it was just an excuse to not replace my second defective unit.

We have had this product for over 18 months now and I am amazed how quiet it is. I just don't like noise in the home and you can barely hear this when it is running. This has been a great cooler for us since the last wine enthusiast model on lasted one year.

This is the only fridge I have seen with a Preservation device inside for your opened bottles of wine. We use it about once a week and I find it very effective to preserve open bottles. It's much more economical than throwing a half a bottle away . This is really no more expensive than a decent quality wine cooler so I figure why not get the extra functionality....turns out we use it.

The controls are very easy to use and the blue LCD is very attractive. Bottles fit nicely and are not crammed in there. The cooler is very nice with high quality strong wooden shelves that pull out. Great Job Preservino!! Finally, a cooler that is reliable, good looking and functional.

This unit is going on 2.5 years and we have not had any issues with it so I have been impressed. We have purchased 2 other wine cellars that were approximately the same size. They both lasted less than a year. I really like the brushed stainless steel finish with the window in the door. We always put a bottle there to display. It has a light that illuminates the bottle so it looks very nice in low light. The wood shelves are a nice color that does not look fake at all. The unit has a blue digital display that can do Fahrenheit or Celcius. I measured the inside temp and it was within a degree of the display. Overall I am very satisfied.

I decided I needed to write a review after seeing the negative reviews given to the Preservino PVV-20 Vinovault. I came to Amazon to buy a second vault for my brother, saw the bad reviews and thought I should give another perspective. My experience with the product and the company has been the opposite of that presented in the negative reviews. I've owned this wine fridge for three years now and it's been a great purchase, I have had no issues with the product. I have purchased additional stoppers and argon cartridges from Pek Preservation Systems directly; dealing with several friendly and helpful people on the phone. I'm sure that, like me, there are many other happy customers who have not bothered to write a review which is unfortunate.

I had an minor issue with the Vinovault Professional I bought 6 months ago. The light inside was a bit intermittent. I got on the phone with the customer service people at Preservino and they were very good about helping me. Within a few minutes they diagnosed the problem and the part arrived a few days later. Luckily it just snapped in to place and everything was working well again. Other than this minor issue the unit has worked well

Please give my experience consideration before you make a decision to purchase a Pek Preservation Systems, Inc. VinoVault Professional (PVV-20)unit!

My experience...

Facts:
Item # PVV-20
Purchased/Received: November 2009
Unit Failed: June 2010
Failure: Cooling unit quit operating
Product life: Seven months

I called directly to a Pek Preservation Systems customer service rep who informed me that the cooling unit in this product is under warranty for 90 days. They offered a replacement unit (which was out of stock) for $120.00 plus the cost of shipment.

The right thing to do, which this company never offered, was to provide a new unit at no cost (to include free shipping). The fact that the company never offered to do this speaks directly to the integrity of the company and the quality of their product.

Does Pek Preservation Systems, Inc. stand by their product? I will let you decide...
