I eat rice at least three or four times a week after living in Asia for over a year, I got hooked. I bought a simple rice cooker after I came home which has lasted for the last four years - press the button and its done. For the last few months, it started to burn my rice and it became quite crunchy. I finally decided it was time to replace it. I wanted three things out of an affordable new machine:
1) A brown rice setting (this is the only kind of rice we eat)
2) A steamer basket
3) the ability to make two servings of rice, which for my husband and I is one cup.
This machine had the first two options, not the third. I saw people answering questions and they said it was possible to make a smaller quantity. I did the math on the mL the machine explains necessary of rice and water for brown rice to reduce the amount of cooked rice and it was a disaster. Upon googling I found someone on eHow say that you make 2 1/2 cups of water per cup of rice, which I did today, with amazing results. It turned out perfect.
I made our entire dinner in our rice cooker tonight - I steamed salmon and green beans on top and made brown rice below. A one pot, simple and delicious meal. So glad I finally threw away my old machine.
The only problem I find is cleaning it, it's a pain in the butt. The rubber rim gets gooey (inside lid), the steam catcher needs cleaning and the air vent on top (needs to be in assembled) all this needs to be clean after every use.
That got a little old. And I feel that it's too much cleaning for a rice cooker.
That's my only complaint, other than that this is a really good machine.

Great for brown rice. Most don't do that well. It is not so great on white rice. Basket can put veggies, meat whatever and have it all ready at the same time. Read morePublished 7 months ago by J. Costa
