I have used a lot of brands of waffle irons in my life - I am 52. This simplistic waffle iron produces evenly cooked waffles that readily release from the iron, stores in a minimum of space, and is light-weight.
I have a waffle recipe that I have improved upon over the years and provide it here for the well-being of all Amazon customers. Enjoy!
DAVE'S MALTED WAFFLES
2 tbsp Vanilla Extract
2 cups Milk
1/4 tsp Salt
1 tbsp Sugar
2 tbsp NonDiastatic Malt Powder (King Arthur brand via Amazon)
1/2 cup Corn FLOUR (Bob’s Red Mill brand via Amazon)
3 cups Buttermilk (recommend Organic Valley brand)
4 cups All-Purpose White Flour
1 tsp Baking Soda
3 tsp Baking Powder
In medium bowl, add Eggs, Extract, Milk, Salt, Sugar, Malt Powder, and Corn FLOUR. Mix these very well.
Next add Buttermilk and White Flour. Mix well.
If necessary, add flour or milk to achieve a light to medium-thick batter. A too thin batter WILL cause sticking.
Finally, add the Baking Soda and Baking Powder. Mix well for about 15 seconds.
Now pour on that preheated waffle iron and set for 3minutes cooking time. Makes about 8-10 waffles.
For PANCAKES, use an additional 1/2 cup of milk.
Please share this recipe. If you like, I have a few more recipes you might like. Let me know! DC.
I am returning this and trying another brand.
Oh, one thing that I did dislike was the Timer does not have a second button like shown in the picture. It is also not 'built-in' to the device. It is a removable timer that requires us to replace Batteries over time?? I don't remember reading about that anywhere, so I have to go with 4-stars.
Update. Two months later? All great except for the most crucial role of a waffle iron. The bottom plate no longer heats. At All. Zippo. Warranty out. Choices? Heat waffle iron until indicator light goes out. Pour in half usual amount of batter. Let cook for 17 minutes. Open lid. Flip waffle. Close lid until cooked. Or? Trash can and curses upon ATROCIOUS Presto Belgian waffle iron.
We made waffles for the first time last night for dinner. BEST WAFFLES I'VE EVER HAD!!! Its SO easy to use. I didn't oil it before the first use, I just kind of wiped it out with a paper towel and went to town with it. I highly recommend watching The Art Professor's video review. It's all you'll need to know how to use this thing. I also highly recommend buying the Carbons Golden malted waffle mix, which is super easy to use and tastes delicious!
You should know, a full cup of batter makes the perfect waffle. I can't wait to make savory waffles with this thing! I'll keep you posted about how those work. "Till next time...

The locking hinge is a HORRIBLE design. It's a flimsy piece of red plastic that doesn't hold well. I stored it away vertically by using the locking hinge after the one time I used it. When I moved it from one place to another on the counter, I watched in horror as the hinge came undone on its own. The waffle irons then quickly fell to the side and the handle smashed into hundreds of pieces as it hit the surface. The handle being a rigid and cheap plastic doesn't seem to allow it to take any amount of impact.
I couldn't have been more disappointed with a product. Based on reviews, there aren't any really decent waffle markers unless you can find a discontinued $300 model.
This one however is perfect. The unit itself has some weight to it which is nice considering it uses ceramic plates. Being able to store it upright is a nice touch and doesn't take up a whole lot of space. I have seen some other reviews about the red locking mechanism to store it upright breaking, and can see why it would as it's a little flimsy, but just need to be careful with it. Doesn't come with a temperature dial, but no waffle iron actually needs one.
The waffles themselves are large, crisp, and the pockets are deep, the true sign of a Belgian waffle and not those eggo style floppy wannabes. Heats up rather quick and has a visual red light indicator when done. While our old iron had an audible alarm when the waffle was finished, this one uses a separate timer, so it may take some trial and error to sort out how much time you actually need depending on the recipe you use (our go-to recipe takes 9-10 minutes) but once it's dialed in, they are perfect every time.
What I like about the iron is the depth of the iron itself. It makes the waffle look bigger with the same amount of batter I use with my other iron. Once you figure out how long to leave the batter to cook, they come out perfect every time. I found that it takes approximately 6 mins to cook one waffle. It's worth the wait.
I'd buy again. I'd prefer a proper on off switch and proper timer, but nothing is perfect.
