The story is narrated by the suspect, a man who knows the system well and is faced with the daunting prospect of being both the sccused and the investigator working side by side with his lawyer to discredit the prosecution's case against him.
Turow lives the reader hanging by a thread until the very last page while also providing a very nuanced and chilling psychological pořtrait of a man's struggle with his past, his inner demons and the overwhelming force of lust.
The unexpected ending really caught me off guard, and made the entire read almost worth it.
