If you liked Gone Girl, or enjoy domestic suspense, you'll love Pretty Dolls! With page turning fever, I whipped through this book, enjoying everything about it. Cece is a bit eccentric, yet every woman can relate to her heartbreak and her need to seek revenge. These characters are very well developed and the plot intense! You'll even find yourself laughing at times too, but I guarantee you won't want to take a break from it. Next up, I'm off to read the sequel !! Reinard is an amazingly talented writer and I can't wait to read all she publishes!

This domestic thriller debut by Cara Reinard caught my attention from the get-go when I learned that CeCe Laramie, a woman who’d set aside her own aspirations to pour her all into her family and kids, finds out her husband has a secret. What she does next will suck you in to a web of deceit, cheating, and revenge that will keep you on the edge of your seat. I could not put the book down. Fans of GONE GIRL will love DOLLS. The main character has her flaws, like every good protagonist does, but you will find yourself rooting for her despite her rough edges and be there right by her side as you find out why she is the way she is. Great fast pace the whole way! There’s a sequel coming too! I can't wait to check it out.

I loved this book. Pretty Dolls and Hand Grenades is a domestic thriller that takes the reader on twists and turns we never see coming! I've read it twice, and I'm still surprised by the ending and dying to read the sequel. Reinard's writing is suspenseful and full of dark wit. Her main character, at first seems to be the typical spoiled and privileged suburban housewife. As the story unfolds, we see different aspects of Cece and begin to sympathize with her and even cheer her on as she goes to great lengths to get her husband back from his young mistress. Anyone who enjoys Gillian Flynn or Jodi Picoult would love this book!

The title of this book intrigued me but other than that I had no idea what it was going to be like.

CeCe is your typical rich mum living off her husband Mitchell’s salary, lives in a grand house has two teenagers and spends her days shopping, ferrying the kids to school and their social clubs, coffee with the girls and collecting dolls.

So how can this fill a whole book you say! On the surface it all appears perfect but dig a little deeper and it becomes apparent that it is a dysfunctional family .. CeCe’s childhood was challenging, she has inherited the OCD gene from her mother, her brother is a junkie, her daughter is an aspiring ballet dancer but also anorexic, her son only lives for video games and her husband is having an affair.

It’s how CeCe deals with all this that is the thrilling journey throughout the book. While I don’t condone violence some of the stunts that she gets up to are outrageous but there is an inkling of “Go Girl” as each time they become more bizarre. This is an exhilarating story that keeps you gripped with so much going on.

Very cleverly written, not only is there the revenge aspect but you really get a feel for the trauma and utter failure/despair that CeCe is enduring. While she has a harsh side she is also very vulnerable .. Mitchell is a wimp and I didn’t particularly like him .. I go for a stronger guy .. keep an eye open for Dinah she is the ultimate psycho!

I’m full of praise for this, so much I didn’t see coming and even after finishing I keep thinking about segments and it dawns on me how the connections were made .. excellent.
I received this book to review through Beck Valley Books Book Tours, all the opinions above are 100% my own.

This book grabs your brain and takes you for quite a spin. Cece and Michael seemed like people I’ve met at work and in the neighborhood. The children could have been students in any of my classes. Then as I read the book, I realized this was no ordinary book. I didn’t feel sorry for Cece or Michael, but I did feel badly for their children. Their parents were so self-involved. I thought about these characters as I went through my day, and I couldn’t wait to pick up the book again. There were times when I could not put the book down; I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough! I thought I picked up the author’s foreshadowing throughout the story, and I was sure I knew how the story would end. Well, I was totally wrong! I missed so many hints from the author along the way, and my prediction for the book’s end was way off base! I enjoyed the surprise! This book made me think of how I would react if I was in Cece’s place. I’m sure I wouldn’t follow the same route as Cece, but I had fun thinking about it! I’ll be on the search for book signings with the author; an autographed copy would make a great gift!

This is one of those books that starts out slow and picks up momentum as you go--and once it takes off--WOW. Cecelia has the perfect life--a beautiful home, a husband who makes a lot of money and two children. Okay, so the kids have their problems--major ones but nothing we all do not see. The daughter is anorexic because she wants to be a model and the son--well he is the proverbial teenager hiding behind his video games. She also has lots of friends just like her. Of course Cecelia does have one slight idiosyncrasy--she like to collect dolls--VERY VERY expensive dolls--but her husband can afford it-right? Well--her husband does complain about her spending so she hides a lot from him-until the credit card appears in his hands for payment. Then the fateful night at an awards ceremony when hubby thanks his assistant and not Cecelia for helping him. Everybody notices-she is mortified and angry!

A strange woman appears in the ladies room and keeps appearing throughout the rest of the book. She convinces Cecelia to do things that will ruin her almost ex (yeah-they almost get divorced). Her friends are avoiding her and her husband is not making any money thanks to the plans this woman concocts to get revenge. Pretty nasty stuff let me tell you!!

The ending will make you gasp when you find out who that strange woman is--what a magnificent twist!!
