Between the cover and the hot as hell story inside, I'm going to need Lucy Smoke to stop making me want to lick my Kindle during a freaking pandemic.
I swear it's not my fault though, because this book is H.O.T. HOT - thicc and filled to the brim with suspense, angst, snark, and a gripping plot!! I can't be held responsible for wanting to DEVOUR it!
Pretty Little Savage introduces us to 18 year old Avalon Manning, who is so much more than she seems at first glance. With her degenerate, drug addicted excuse of a mother, Patricia, around only when she thinks she can use Avalon for her own gain, Ava has learned to read a room and hold her own in order to survive. When a petty rumor threatens dire consequences, Avalon finds herself with no choice but to accept an invitation for an education that feels like a noose more than a life preserver even before Ava finds herself facing the Sick Boys and their underlings. And good gdamn, sign me up for the Sick Boys, please.
One of my FAVORITE things about Avalon is that while she is snarky and brilliant, she has not only learned to survive by weaponizing her mind, body and words, she has weaponized silence. People panic when faced with the unexpected, the unanticipated, and the unknown. And to Dean, Abel and Braxton, Avalon Manning is all three, wrapped up in a pretty little package - and what she has to say about that when she does speak, is AWESOME.
This book was so, so good, and I have a BILLION theories and cannot WAIT for Stone Cold Queen!
Dean Carter, Abel Frazier and Braxton Smalls were born into very powerful families. They grew up in a world in which they were trained for to play a specific role; to use whatever means necessary to gain and keep control. They were the Sick Boys of Eastpoint University. Known for their ruthless behavior they were feared, that is until Avalon Manning appeared at Eastpoint.
I have never met a heroin like Avalon. She is the true definition of a fighter, both literally and figuratively. So unapologetically twisted! She doesn't let anyone mess with her. Her adrenaline is fueled by near death experiences. Avalon liked to gamble with danger. The toxic pull between Dean and Avalon was angsty. It gave me so much anxiety. I'm telling you, I could not put this book down. I read the last few chapters quite a few times. They were brutal but in a good way - they were INSANE! SO MUCH ACTION - I HAVE A FEW THEORIES BUT ONE T IS REALLY NAGGING AT ME BECAUSE I WANT IT TO BE TRUE.
I loved every second of this book.
I love that the lead female character (Avalon) is the one throwing shade, with an attitude that takes the school she finds herself in by storm. As soon as she enters into this elite campus, she turns everything on its head and nothing is as it was. She is a well throughout character that you would want by your side if you are ever in a bind.
“Dean is no good for me, but my one consolation is the fact that I’m no good for him either. If he tried to take me down completely he’ll find himself a king without a throne.”
Avalon doesn’t know how to just live the simple life, she needs the release, the adrenaline to get through the day, combating the demons that live in her body. Dean has met his match in Avalon and must learn how to navigate all the new thoughts and emotions that come with her in his life.
We are left with many questions: Why was she brought to Eastpoint University? What is really going on with the families of Eastpoint? What does Avalon Manning have to do with it all?
This book held me from the very beginning and just about killed me by the end. I can’t wait for this book series to continue!!! You won’t regret picking this one up!!!
**This book is dark so if triggered easily tread lightly! But if you aren't triggered join us on the dark side!!!**
