I’m not sure why it took me so long to read this book. I’ve had it on my kindle for some time now and I finally decided to read it. Oh. My. God. It was sooooo good! Why in the hell did I wait?? You can be sure that I won’t be waiting to read the rest of this series! I LOVE a story that has a strong heroine in it, and believe me, this story has one! Pretty Stolen Dolls had a little bit of everything that I love it in. It was dark (my favorite), it was a psychological thriller (to put it mildly LOL) and of course, it had romance and hot dang if it wasn’t a page turner!!! The story starts off with the main character, Jade, and her sister Macy being kidnapped by a psychopath with some very disturbing hobbies. Until the end, this journey is shared through Jade’s eyes and we travel with her, reliving all of the horrors that became her own personal living hell for 4 years. I love the perspective that this story was told by, because little by little, as we fight with Jade to regain control of her life, we discover how it was stolen away from her in the first place.
"Something passes between us in this moment. It’s not a partner comforting a partner. It’s not a friend soothing a friend. It’s another human sharing your pain, understanding the silent moments as well as the loud ones. It’s two souls touching the essence of each other. It’s a man holding a woman and showing her it’s okay to break because he will keep her together until she can do it for herself."
I love the dynamic between Jade and Dillion, her partner in crime…. Literally, and I loved watching how that dynamic changed the more they worked together and the more he was able to help Jade share aspects of her imprisonment with him. It was an interesting match to say the least, but one I ended up LOVING! So if you are in the mood for a DARK psychological thriller, look no further. THIS book has everything you want and then some. It will have you crashing through emotions just as much as the characters in the book do! I can’t wait to see what the rest of the series has in store!!!!
"Have you ever touched another’s soul with the essence of your own, breathed them in so they become a part of you? I have. Finally starting to live, feel and fall in love, amongst all the chaos surrounding me. Dropping my guard and letting another into my heart. I left my soul open. I left my heart open. I left the door open. And he stole me."
8 years after escaping Jade cannot get over what happened to her in Benny’s basement. She is determined to find her sister and bring justice where it’s due. As a successful detective she has been waiting for a lead for years- never giving up. When Benny comes back to haunt her she enters a powerful cat and mouse game.
A quarter of the way through Jade reminded me a lot of Mariska Hargitay- she was determined, self-assured, and on top of every new lead or case that came in resembling hers. A woman with a mission and no time for silly emotions. Towards the end however I felt Jade’s character becoming more and more unlikable to me- she became whiny, careless, and seemed to lose any sense of professionalism that drew me into her character in the beginning. *sigh* Maybe it’s just me…
Overall, the plot was amazing and something entirely new to me. I loved the mix of suspense, SVU –esque mystery, and the whole creepy concept of the dolls. ACKK they’re so creepy!
The end had a major twist and revelation which I wish would have maybe happened sooner- my interest dipped for a while during the middle. I did have to go back and re-read several passages to understand what happened but I was definitely surprised! Now I have to get my hands on book two to find out what happens next!
PRETTY LITTLE DOLLS by K. Webster and Ker Dukey, is a 2-part serial, and the books cannot be read as a standalone books. The first book in the series is PRETTY STOLEN DOLLS followed by PRETTY LOST DOLLS.
I received the first book in this series for free and decided to give it a try. It was so exciting, I couldn’t put it down. But the cliffhanger ending left me with no choice but to buy the second part of this serial so that I could see the ending. I am so glad I chose to read this series!
Book 1 begins when Jade is 14 years old and shopping with her little sister Macy. Charmed by a doll salesman, the girls accept a ride home from him and end up in the clutches of a madman who locks them away and tortures them for four years. When Jade escapes without her little sister and can't find her way back to the cabin where she left her little sister, she makes it her life mission to find her sister and bring the madman to justice. However, no amount of police work uncovers their location and she grows increasingly disheartened. Soon she discovers grisly crime scenes, and it becomes apparent that her captor is back and looking for her. Book 2 delves into her loving relationship with a man she adores and the price she and her family are forced to pay for her escape when she was younger.
There was a powerful conclusion to this story and an equally powerful start. It jumps into the meat of the plot immediately and doesn’t let up until the very end. My heart was pounding for Jade and Dillon from page one. The authors had no mercy on their readers! Fortunately, I wasn’t looking for any. Having said that, this book is horror and is not for the faint of heart. If you have any triggers, this book is not for you. There is consensual and non-consensual sex, grisly violence, and explicit language. This book would appeal to readers of Pepper Winters, A. A. Dark, and CJ Roberts.
This was a 4-star read for me. I plan to purchase this series in paperback in the hopes of meeting the authors and having the books autographed. I recommend readers buy both books in the series to get a complete story. I recommend it for anyone who enjoys a dark read.
This book earns 4 North of Normal stars!

All I can say is your reading life is not complete until you read this book!
This is a very dark read. It isn't a book for the faint hearted, or people that don't like books based on rape or abuse.
This story follows Jade Phillips who was abducted with her sister at age 14. She was captivated for four years before she escaped leaving her young sister behind. This story shows Jade now, 8 years on, and her struggle is still very real.
It is a very well written book, but I wasn't keen on so many flash backs to Jade's captivity. There is a big twist at the end that I never seen coming. The cliff hanger leaves you needling the second book to see what happens with Jade.
I will certainly look out for more books by these authors.
This book can be enjoyed time and time again. It is amazingly intense and the author prepares you for the journey for you to take alongside the characters really well. The characters and story development were perfectly done. This book was extremley well written and has fast become of my favourite books. I will definitely want to one click future releases from this author. This book was full of different emotions with many twists and turns in the book that will keep you guessing what is going to happen till the very end.
I could not wait to get to the end so I devoured it in one sitting. Incredible work!!
The storyline was done really well and was believable. It kept me gripped from the very start until the end, so much so I took the book everywhere with me in order to finish it. I adore this book and cannot wait to read the next in the series as well as other work from this amazing author. I will definitely be recommending this author to everyone I know.
Words just cannot express how amazing this book is!!!
This book is covers the taboo topics of kidnapping, rape, serial killings, physical and psychological abuse. If you are not a lover of dark and twisted move on, this book isn't for you. For me, it was addictive, a real page turner. I spent most of my time reading this book holding my breath... Benny gave me the creeps. Is it wrong to be intrigued by him...?
Told mainly from a first person POV, the book was fast paced. It really was a thrill seeker's paradise. All of the characters held my attention... My heart even went out to some characters. And as for Dillion... wow that guy was hot. Delicious!
I cannot praise this book highly enough. 5 dark and twisted stars!
This is dark, twisted and chilling. I get shivers thinking about this book and every time I hear "Miss Polly had a dolly". I LOVED IT! Its scary, its wickedly detailed, and wonderfully written.
Benjamin "Benny" is probably one of the craziest antagonists Ive ever had the pleasure of reading and its freaking delightful. He is the monster than lurks in plain sight, hot, charming and completly insane.
Jade is a strong female protagonist in even her weak moments but to me this just made her a more well-rounded character, her mental resistance is admirable and I found her to be well-written and relatable as well. She is determined to solve her case and hunt down the elusive Benny and rescue the pretty little doll.
This book is like a nightmare waiting to happen. I couldnt sleep after reading this, particularly knowing that I have about 30 porcelain dolls in the attic including one that used to give me nightmares as a child.
I cant wait to dive further into the madness that these two amazing authors have created.
The story flows brilliantly from sadness to horror.
It's perfectly delivered with good characters and dialogue.
Contains dark themes of abduction, abuse, rape, murder and torture.
It was a real page turner, twists and turns throughout and so dark . The tension builds and builds into a horrifying ending.
Absolutely loved this one.
Meeting the main character Jade and her sister Macy and experiencing their kidnap hits a nerve and it's something everyone fears, to be snatched off the street by crazy madman and to be put through something that would crush most people.
The storyline is so compelling and addictive I struggled to put this book down and get on with everyday life, the twists and turns are gritty and sickly, but have a good on you to keep pressing on - the ending of the book is a cliff hanger - thankfully I had the next book to dive straight into so I did!
Jade and her sister were abducted at a flea market and 4 years later after being brutally beaten and raped Jade manages to escape but has to leave her beloved sister Macy behind with the intention of gettin help. Jade however is knocked down during her escape and can't remember details about where she was being he'd resulting in Macy not being found.
Jade now a detective is determined to find her sister and kill Benjamin the maniac who stole them. Only Benjamin has other ideas.
If u never read another book this year then read this one.
The only negative is that it ends on a cliffhanger.
A minor bugbear is I'm guessing the author has never broken a rib because I have no idea how Jade did all she managed with one!
I also had a big problem with the ending
I have no issues with sequels but I also prefer the book to be stand alone
I don't like cliff hangers! Especially if the sequel isn't available!
Hence the 4 star
Obviously that's just my personal preference but having said that, I'm really glad I discovered this book and I will be reading the sequel
I would definitely recommend it
Pretty Stolen Dolls was beautifully written. Although co written one authors writing style did not stick out from the others, in fact they complimented each other to allow the book to flow smoothly which had me turning page after page, without being able to put it down.
Pretty Stolen Dolls had me gripped from the very beginning. Written from Jade's POV you cant help but get sucked into her story and almost feel like you are captive alongside her. Experiencing the need to protect Macy, experiencing her inner turmoil with her love to hate relationship with Benny. Who you really cant help but love in a sick and twisted kind of way.
My favourite Character had to be Dillon. At first I found him arrogant, egotistical in a sexy kind of way. But throughout the story I found there was more depth to his character. His Un-judgemental support and his strength helped Jade fight her demons. He accepted every broken part of her whilst still being the one determined to fix her by fulfilling her needs that only he seems to understand.
I definitely think that there is more to be heard from Benny & Macy's POV. Which is something I'm hoping for in book two & I can't wait!
It was one of the best dark Physiological thriller I've read. That's how i can best describe It. A game of cat and mouse and believe me you don't want to get caught in the trap.
Totally messed with my mind. It was all kinds of scary I will never look at a porcelain doll the same.
This book was just fantastic I literally could not put it down I just had to know what would happen.
OMG that ending talk about edge of your seat. I need the next book now.
Poor Jade and her Sister Macy taken by a madman their lives are never the same again that's all I'll say.
Just buy this book you owe it to yourself not to miss this one.
I love these two Authors together I hope they continue with other books in the future.
Well! I binge read all three books in one foul swoop. And when I say that I mean I literally read them within days!!!!
If you love the weird and wonderful and well written books from crazy minds you will love these!
Warning, you will be singing miss polly has a Dolly for a fair few days.......
This story is chilling, there is no other word to describe it. It reminds me a bit of Freddie 1.2 Freddies coming for you. 3.4 better close the door 5.6.........
I love everything about this book. I love the characters.....Dillon hmmmm. Jade is not the most loveable character out there, but with what she has gone through you can see why. I didn't dislike her though. There are some real disturbing scenes in this book but you can't stop turning those pages. A brilliant, chilling read.
Her name is Jade, she was fook, fook, fooked.
He held her in a cell for many years, years, years.
She lived with fear and the tears, tears, tears.
She escaped from his clutches, she was quick, quick, quick.
With Benny on her tail cos he is sick, sick, sick.
But she escaped him, she was free, free, free.
But Benny would never let it be, be, be.
I sat and I read every page, page, page.
I felt the emotion and the rage, rage, rage.
It scared the sh#t out of me, but couldn't stop, stop, stop.
I devoured every word, every drop, drop, drop.
I couldn't put it down till I finished, finished, finished.
And had to write this down before it diminished, diminished, diminished.
From my ordinary life this book stole, stole, stole.
And I can't fricken wait for Pretty Lost Dolls Dolls Dolls.
As I said it is a very dark subject matter, but the writing is incredible, don't think I have ever felt more as if I was in the book and as the main character. Even more incredible as the main character is a woman in mid twenties and I am a man in early fifties! Read in a day it runs at such a fast pace.
