Wow. This is one powerful little read. There is a deep sadness at the loss that has been suffered by Kali and Aiden and yet all the underlying feelings they have had for the other come racing back to the surface. But do they go against Kyle's wishes? Do they continue to long for the other and do nothing about it? Oh my, it's one big messy situation and yet Huss manages to carefully allow Kali and Aiden to sort through their grief and find some semblance of peace, no matter the cost.
And I loved the subtle 'signs' from Kyle that gave a certain sweetness to this story. It added the right touch as both Kali and Aiden have this push and pull, wanting the other so fiercely and desperately afraid to hurt Kyle. They were beautiful signs of acceptance and was exactly what our couple needed to move on. Kali and Aiden have an incredible chemistry and their reluctant yet overwhelming desire led to some insanely hot trysts. Those scenes added a realness to what they were dealing with internally and couldn't help but act upon.
Pretty Thing proves that J.A. Huss can incite fierce emotion even in the pages of a shorter read. She knows how to get to the heart of the matter and keep me thoroughly engaged and I'm in continued awe of her talent.
This book is quite simply lovely from start to finish and deserves a solid 5 stars!
I am a huge fan of Huss. I have read almost all of her books except the Junco series. And she hasn't written anything like Pretty Thing. This book for me had more of a real contemporary feel to it then any of her other books. And I loved every word.
This story will take you on a journey of loss, pain, love, and the struggles of loyalty. This book was such an emotional read. Something I'm not used to by Huss. But it was beautifully written. There were so many elements that tied this story together. Things that I don't want to mention because I don't want to give anything away. It is definitely a must read. Can't wait to see what comes next.
Its a fast Read which is kind of unusual for Julie, but Wow is it Awesome! She takes such a sad part of Living and turns it into something you can See & Feel and in the end not feel bad about but Good and that's Talent, Raw Talent!!!!
Two things we absolutely know about Life and that is we are born and we all will die! So in this case its how to handle those feelings after the loss. She starts us off at the cemetery...the worst place, the place of the final goodbye...or is it?
This little jewel talks about one of the hardest aspect in life and it gets deep and emotional! It also turns to "A Deep LOVE that's been right in front of them for Years" So She (Julie) sends us on a trip chasing emotions from the very best of friends and not just siblings but Twins an a neighborhood lifelong best friend. Looking in the past and chasing that bond that was always there and its also of 3 very best friends that started years back, at 8 yrs of age! Now suddenly they ALL have to accept a Loss they would have never thought they would endear.
Its for sure got all of the feel's! And in the end you will have to agree that just because you have Death you for sure do not Lose the LOVE and or Friendship of that person! And it also makes you look at your life and all that's happened and if you are on the right track, and what if you left the very next day would you be happy with how it all turned out?
The Twin factor and the Best friend added in is all Bonus! This is a little different for Julie but yet not...its these people looking for the right answers even when they struggle to find out if its the right way to go or even think about. Jump aboard and Cry, Laugh and even Smile and maybe yes cry again!
Loved the EOBS Julie, I love the idea of so many books coming I am so excited for KC Cross!!!
One Click Now you wont regret it. Kali Aden and Kyle are fantastic!!
Three best friends--two of whom happen to be siblings and twins at that--and then one dies tragically in an accident, leaving the other two to figure out how life will be going forward without the one person who's been such a constant in it. First things first: I seriously liked that Aiden and Kali (and Kyle, for that matter) were all thirty-four when the book starts. The three central characters being in their mid-thirties was an appreciated change of pace from the usual twenty-somethings that land in my review pile. The story line itself was also somewhat of a shift from the norm for me, and JA Huss's creativity and originality are on full display and serve as a reminder of why she has as strong of a following as she does. I'm keeping this spoiler-free; just go read Pretty Thing. Five stars. ♥

This is a wonderful, heart wrenching, story of loss and grief, of going against a best friend/brother's wishes, a story of guilt and loyalty. Oh my I cried! I felt the loss of Kyle, the deep sadness. There's none of the typical JA Huss twists, but nonetheless I was still drawn into this story, and felt for the characters. I loved this book!
This is a deeply emotional, beautifully gentle romance about two people who were always meant to be together.
I cried silent tears of happiness, sadness, hopefulness and satisfaction.
This is such a departure from other Huss works but it's perfect in storyline, tone, pace and ending.
I will read this again and again. A truly uplifting read.
If you are a JA Huss fan, you soon realise it’s not the twisted tale that we love to read from her, but a lighter love story about love, loss and choosing to move on.
A true romantic book of will they / won’t they or should they to keep you turning pages.
For a holiday book to keep you happy in the sun, I highly recommend this on.
