I very much enjoyed the steampunk setting. The story is set in S.F. California and is quite a fun read. I felt that the elements of the steampunk world were very nicely entertwined with the reality we know in our own world. I feel that this was very well written and edited. I enjoyed the character of Helena and felt myself rooting for her. I would definitely read more in this series and feel as if I got to know the characters well. I particularly enjoyed the rich descriptions of setting and environment. The time setting is set in the late 1800's verging on the dawn of the 1900's and it is pretty accurately portrayed in this book. It is a thriller and kept me engaged and drawn into the story.
I received a copy of the book free to review but I promise this is an honest review.
NB I received a complimentary copy of this book, but I always give an HONEST review based wholly on my own opinions
I received an advanced copy from hidden gems and I enjoyed it so much that I want to review
Being the first in a series it does have a cliff hanger ending. The plot follows a strong female protagonist who is smart, sassy, and a little anachronistic. The setting is a steam punk stylized 1899 San Francisco. The characters are detailed, quick witted, and widely arrayed. I cannot wait for the next installment. Mr. Alldredge, this is such an imaginative work, particularly due to the steam punk, PLEASE, have it illustrated. I think it would add so much more to the narrative to be able to see some of the technology!
