The acting is generally good. Moynaham of I, Robot fame, as the stepmom saddled with 2 bratty kids is very believable and will often remind you in looks and speech of Sandra Bullock. The oldest child is very effective in her role, but her character will, forgive the pun, eat away at your nerves to the point where you want Moynaham to simply kick the broken down jeep's door open and feed her to the damn lions. The youngest child is so awful in his role that you would swear on a stack of Bibles that he's reading his lines off of posterboards. Peter Weller, the Robocop Trilogy and recent villain on TV's 24 - Season Five, as the dad is reliable as always and he's always been a very underrated actor. I enjoy seeing him on the History Channel where he hosts ancient worlds specials (wherein he holds a Master's degree from Syracuse University and, I believe, is an adjunct professor).
The death scenes are absolutely chilling and intense and not unlike the death scenes in Jaws. They are that riveting and horrific. I promise you that you will not forget them.Read more ›
I thoroughly enjoyed this movie and will watch it again many times I'm sure. And believe me, I can be very critical of "bombs." But as stated, this is not a bomb. It's a buried gem, taking into consideration that it isn't a Hollywood blockbuster Academy Award candidate; nor, I'm sure, was it ever intended to be. It's just good entertainment.
I'd like to counter some of the irrational criticisms in the bad reviews gathered here.
First of all, the acting is good across the board. Specifically, the young actor referred to by one negatively biased reviewer as "some boy" was by no means "awful." In fact, he was pretty good at portraying a modern day tween caught up in an exciting, though admittedly terrifying, experience. I give him 4/5 stars. The rest of the actors were also quite adequate in their parts, even good at times. 'Nuf said about the acting.
The story is well written if you're not looking for Citizen Kane, or more to the point, Cujo. The directing? I don't know, that's hard to tell sometimes.Read more ›
That's the predicament! What's the solution. You and the kids with you are as stuck as that family in
Stephen King's "Cujo" was. What are ya gonna do about it. Better start thinking outside the box ..err car and you better be quick about it! Good flick

I saw this film on TV years ago. It puts one in mind of Steven King's "Cujo", but with lions instead of a rabid dog. Read morePublished 1 month ago by D. Duggan
