He was weak and insignificant really. The story was nice and funny with just the heroine. I can't believe they will have a HEA, since he does not have a backbone and he will just return to that lifestyle on any pretext, as he did before.
Really, really disappointed with the hero.
The writing was good though and I will definitely read from this author again.
I gave this book 4 1/2 stars.
Mason is a gigolo (no spoiler there-it's in the book description) who meets Reese (who is escaping/hiding from a crazy ex-boyfriend).
Both characters are attending community college and find themselves thrown together. A relationship develops and eventually they get their HEA with no cliffhanger. Amen to that.
I really enjoyed this book. For those that are looking for a deep, angst ridden, or emotional turmoil-filled book that explores esoteric feelings, then this is not your book. If you are looking for an easy to read, humorous, romance with a bit of a twist - this is for you.
The book grabbed me and I didn't lose interest until the very end. (hence, the 1/2 star loss). The ending seemed to end a bit swiftly and too 'canned'.
The characters are wonderful.
Mason, of course, is model-hot, sexy, and a true boy scout (minus the sex for pay).
Reese is sassy, impulsive (in a funny and fresh way) and has a heart of gold. She sticks up for people even if everyone else is against you. Of course, she is very attractive as well.
Linda Kade does a beautiful job of showing how vulnerable the characters are, without making them weak. They are strong, without making them obnoxious. There are no 'big misunderstandings', or characters that go around lying to hide their true feelings. Reese is up-front and straight forward, with a touch of humor and a bit of awkwardness - so she is so totally endearing.
You root for these two the whole time.
Linda adds a character or two that makes the book well rounded. The little sister is absolutely adorable. It could be totally contrived - but I thought it was written well enough that I just ate it up with a spoon.
There is an evil antagonist that adds a bit of spice/action to the book. it's dealt with pretty well.
There is one hot and heavy sex scene - so please be advised if you were thinking to pass this along to your teen.
If you are looking for a fairly light hearted, romantic book - please read this.
Mason. Where to begin with that one? I love me some Mason. So swoon-worthy! My heart broke for him and everything he went through to keep his family afloat. I would love to say I wish his mother could have done more to protect him but she was already running herself ragged working two jobs.
Sarah was another awesome character - I loved the strong relationship between her and her brother as well as Reese. I feel like the her relationship with Reese really brought her out of her shell a lot.
I loved the playful banter between Reese and Mason! And it was so cute that he felt comfortable enough with her to start stealing her food pretty regularly once they started talking often.
I truly loved this book and will definitely be reading it again and again. I can't wait to read the rest of the books in this series. Brava to the author!
