On the French Riviera, nothing comes cheap. And when it comes to men, Irene has very rich taste. One very confusing night, she is duped at her own game. Her knight in shining armor turns out to have no shine at all. Irene, however, is the woman of Jean's dreams. The only way to win her heart back is to turn the tables on her. Audrey Tautou (The Da Vinci Code, Amelié) stars in a romantic comedy that proves true love is PRICELESS.

Another idea which was seen throughout the movie was the idea that love conquers all. This film is an example of how no matter how hard you try to ignore it, love will always win. Despite the fact that neither Irene nor Jean have any money, they decide it doesn't matter. Instead, love is what is most important. I think this idea gives me hope that, in my future, I will meet someone who feels the same way. There were several aspects of this film that I found to be very French. This includes the fashion. On many occasions in the film, Irene could be found wearing very fancy designer clothes, including a Chanel purse. Another aspect of the film which I found to be very French is the openness with which the characters spoke to each other. The characters were very proud of the fact that they were living off of their romantic partners, during the movie. I know that for me, this aspect of the film, was a bit awkward to watch just because I was not expecting either of them to want to share this with one another.
Everything that one sees in "Priceless" has been done many times before.
Guy meets girl.
Guy falls for girl.
Guy drains bank account...(and on and on...)
But with Audrey Tautou - you just don't seem to mind...
Audrey continues to lend a "freshness" to seemingly every role she plays.
A fun and entertaining film...with heart!!
Merci, Audrey (keep up the good work)!
I rate "Priceless" by Audrey Tautou...Five stars!
I am writing this to warn you, this will probably NOT BE REGION 1!
I have exchanged this disc 3 times because they list it here as a region 1, but every time they have sent me a region 2 with all of the box printed in Chinese. I have had to call (which for fun just try and find their phone number on this website) each time and explain that they are idiots before they agree to exchange it and the whole process starts again. Looking at the back of the box, I'll tell you why they can't get it straight. There is a number "1" that denotes how many discs are inside, and a number "2" which denotes region. They can't seem, even though they are the largest distributor of DVDs ever, to comprehend the two numbers and so since it has a "1" on it, it must be region 1. I decided finally to just keep it and get an all-region player someday. Too much hassle for $20.
But again, the movie is really good.
the kind of delightful repartee which makes
this sort of gentle romance a keeper or not.
The leads are fine with what they're given
to do. Both could benefit with some better
dialogue as they are clearly up to the task
if it were demanded of them.
Good for language skills practice using
the subtitles. Otherwise, well, sorry to say,
somewhat bland. A waste of Tautou's talent.
She doesn't want to become the Jen Aniston
of France I'm sure!
