Not only could I not put this book down, but it kept me up all night until the mystery of the missing painting was disclosed. There were enough red herriings to have me guessing wrongly, right and then wrong in every chapter.
Through it all, Chelsea Owens and Sam Eldridge kept the romantic sparks flying. The author's research into the art world and the real art heist upon which this story was based were intricately detailed and believable. This is my favorite kind of plot, when the author uses real history and then brings that story into the present with her own brand of insight, charm and intelligence. I highly recommend this novel for both romance and mystery book lovers.
Chelsea tries to help Sam with his cases. She keeps her eyes and ears open and isn't afraid to snoop when the situation requires it. Will they eventually manage to uncover the truth behind both the robbery and the forgery? While spending so much time together they inevitably get to know each other better, do they have a chance even if the circumstances are far from ideal?
A Priceless Find is a gripping romantic story. Chelsea is smart and capable. I liked her fierceness and the fact that she follows her instincts. She can be impulsive and I liked her spirit. Sam is serious. He's been through a lot and it isn't easy for him to open up to someone, but Chelsea's disarming personality manages to do the trick. They're wonderful together and I really enjoyed reading about the developments in both their relationship and the investigation.
Kate James has written a fabulous story about beautiful art and complicated schemes. I couldn't wait to find out who was behind the robbery and the forgery. Of course I had my suspicions and it was fun to find out if I was right. Kate James's writing style is warm and welcoming. She combines this with a thrilling case, which made it impossible for me to put A Priceless Find down. I absolutely loved this fabulous story.
It's suspected that there could be a link between the jewelry store and the art gallery theft, and it might be the next target, so Sam decides to visit an art
exhibit there. Running into Chelsea again, he admires her love and knowledge of art, even though he's lacking in those areas, and he can't deny his
attraction to her.
The case is complicated, causing suspicions to flit from one person to another, creating a rollercoaster ride for Chelsea's relationship with Sam, especially when she sneaks into a warehouse filled with possibly incriminating evidence. But will it still be there when the authorities arrive? Whom can she trust? Nothing is certain in this involved novel that keeps the reader guessing until the end.
The author's knowledge of art dealings is impressive, as she explains the channels each piece goes through before being sold, and the authentication necessary to determine that it's not a forgery.
If you're ready to delve into the art world with an excellent writer as your guide, pick up a copy of A Priceless Find.
