I have to say, right off the bat, I loved the premise of this book. Step-sibling relations are pretty popular right now in the romance book world but this one struck just the right cord for me. For one, I think any new adult in a relationship not sanctioned by family and peers OR in love with the person they can't understand why they're attracted to could probably relate. You don’t have to have fantasies of boning your arrogant future step-brother to find a universal appeal to this one. And if the step-sibling aspect has you a little iffy on the romance, then rest assured it skirts the technicalities on the issue. ;-)

So Katherine Harrison is the Senator’s daughter, a “good girl” who tries to keep her over-bearing father pleased. But she allows herself one night to shed her innocence and let her fellow private school co-ed, Caulter Sterling, punch her v-card (as he so puts it) just before graduation. Color Katherine shocked, well actually color her a few shades of red, when she discovers her politician father is about to marry the celebrity mother of her illicit one night stand. Now the boy that she despises even though she can’t quit thinking about (or drawing) his well endowed appendage is about to become her step-brother; and, no matter how they feel about each other, they may have to play nice for the cameras.

The step-sibling aspect works for some great humor here. Caulter and Katherine behave like squabbling siblings all the while lusting after each other. (Oh the bonfire—that’s all I’m going to say!) Caulter and Kate have such great banter as well as a multitude of super sexy scenes. Caulter most definitely excels at the dirty talk and their name calling is a hilarious, especially when it serves as foreplay.

Katherine (Kate) is a good girl.. She is a Senator’s Daughter.. kind of a goody too-shoe ins some’s eyes.
Caulter is the son of a Hollywood star.. He is the bad boy.. the one you should stay away from but you just can’t, The one who has had practically every girl in school..
Katherine is about to graduate high school and wants to go to college NOT A VIRGIN.. So she goes against her better judgment and contacts Caulter.. They spend one hot night together and after they part ways. The thing is they can’t stop thinking about each other and maybe, just maybe they want more, but soon things get complicated.
After graduation Katherine is asked to come home as her father has news.. When she walks in she see’s none other than Caulter.. Her father drops a bomb on her telling her that He and Caulters mom are getting married that summer..
I loved the back and forth that Katherine and Caulter had.. Katherine could be a bitch if she wanted to be but deep down she was confused and scared. She wanted more of what Caulter gave her but scared this would hit the media and her dad would find out.. Caulter could be a prick and a ass but he was alson sweet, charming, adorable..
Some of the stand out things for me in the book… (some sopilers..)
The cemetery part of the book, felt so real. It wasn't something big but for me it was heart wrenching.
- When he came to take her from that party she went to with Jo (and that RED DRESS).
- At the wedding reception the way he said i fucken love you.. awww!
- I'm so happy Caulter went on this adventure. Got this life straightened out.. I think it helped him mature and become the man Kate deserved..
- Also happy for Kate, She finally stood up to her father.. Went to the school she wanted to go to and do what she wanted to do.. and when Caulter showed up….. She deserves happiness with her prince..
Go read this.. I seriously recommend it..

The virginal, goody-goody good girl wanted a quick trip on the wild side when she approached manwhore Caulter to be rid of her v-card. What she did instead was buy herself a whole lot of trouble in the form of a new stepbrother when her father and his mother announced they were getting married. The announcement came just 10 days after they did the deed, and both wanted more of each other.

This book contained some laughs, snarky name-calling and other new-adult hijinks, as well as a sweet love story. It's well worth your time if you like a tattooed bad boy with a heart of gold (my favorite kind of H).

I think I'm in the minority when I say that I wasn't really feeling this one. As an avid romance reader, I'm completely okay with gratuitous sexy times. But when the entire book feels like one gratuitous sex scene after another, I can't help but feel the story is inadequate in more ways than one.

I didn't really get what Caulter and Kate saw in each other - other than Caulter having a nice penis and Kate having nice boobs. The only time they talked was either dirty talk during sex or to tell each other how much they hated the other. It was hard to even get to know them as a characters since if they weren't having sex, they were thinking about having sex. To say it got a little old after a while is a massive understatement.

If you really like erotica, I could see how this might work for you. Unfortunately it's not my cup of tea.

Even though the rating is only 3 stars, I did enjoy this book quite a bit. My only problem was the male MC - Caulter. I knew he was supposed to be a prick by the title and the blurb, but I didn't quite understand how much of a prick he would be. That being said, it bugged me that Kate was such a pushover. There was a lot of sex and not much subject matter. Even though this seems negative it did flow well. The characters weren't wishy-washy. They were who they were throughout the whole book and I appreciated the fact that the author didn't try to change them to satisfy the readers. That's what made this book a good read. It was honest and raw. You get what you see.
