About the Author
JoMarie DeGioia has been making up stories for as long as she can remember and has spent a lot of years giving voice to the characters in her head. In her world outside of writing she’s known Mickey Mouse from the “inside” at Walt Disney World, has been a copy-editor for her town’s newspaper, and currently works for a major bookseller. She makes her home in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. She’s married with two daughters, both bitten by the writing bug.

I received an ARC copy from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
And now I am going to get to spoilers so do not read further if you don't want to know.
The book starts well enough with our H and h. Michelle and Leeds. Leeds is 100% about money and politics. His father has lost tons of money and so he turns to speech writing for policians. However Michelle has a huge dowry. They fall in love very fast and in all honesty way too fast. He marries year and tries to conceal things from her, even when she ask him very direct answers he lies and does not tell her the truth. And then he refuses her dowry because of pride.. This really upsets Michelle and then she find out about his speech writing which he is still lieing about. So she goes to her cousin, terrible fellow who she talks into getting her dowry for her and then, making her uncle gift it to her husband. The cousin then blackmails her into stealing his speeches and ruining his side business.
This is why I hated the book. We have Leeds lieing, sneaking around and refusing the gift his wife's family gave them and what does she do but go behind his back and make him accept the gift and then she goes and steals his speeches. At this point I din't care anymore, I don't want to know this couple.
