Tune it your way
The Prime Z390 simplifies CPU overclocking with software and extensive tweaking options that give beginners and seasoned overclockers alike the tools to build well-tuned machines. A new memory trace layout provides stability and compatibility for both traditional DIMMs and RGB-infused memory, letting you pair a broad choice of DRAM kits with your build.
With x4 PCI Express 3.0/2.0 bandwidth, M.2 supports up to 32Gbps data-transfer speeds. It's the perfect choice for an operating system or application drive, providing fast access to data. Also, with backward compatible USB 3.1 Gen 2 Type-A, you'll experience ultimate connection flexability and blazing data-transfer speeds of up to 10Gbp.
Our OptiMem II tech carefully maps memory signal pathways across different PCB layers to reduce vias and also adds shielding zones that significantly reduce crosstalk. And to further enhance overclocking headroom for fully stacked memory configurations, we've employed a highly customized T-Topology layout that delivers time-aligned signaling.
Cooler by Design
Each header can dynamically reference three thermal sensors, and via Fan Xpert 4 you can even map the temperature of supported ASUS graphics cards to optimize cooling for GPU and CPU-intensive tasks.
Upgrade to unrivalled audio
Combined onboard features deliver elevated audio. Intelligent design and premium hardware create audio quality unlike anything you've ever experienced!
Brighten up your build. With 5050 RGB strips connected to the RGB header, you can create your own stunning multicolor lighting displays with static, blinking, fading, and strobing effects.

Solid power delivery for entry level board, abundance of USB 3.x ports. Clean design, works well with 9th gen Intel Core CPUs. Lots of PCI-e expansion ports. Comes with basic single orange lightning that's integrated on the board. I'm able to use all 4 RAM slots. The fan control in BIOS is very flexible, and I was able to get fans to be very quiet until CPU is under full load.
UEFI BIOS is simple to use and has lots of settings.
Cons: This is budget board, so some decisions were made to keep the cost down, without sacrificing the quality. Board has only four SATA connectors (this is not mentioned on the product page) and two more M.2 connectors. When M.2 is used, then only 3 SATA connectors can be used.
Comes with Realtek Gigabit network and basic Realtek ALC887 sound. Most Z390 boards come with respected Intel network cards.
Another unexpected thing is that board comes with only 6 holes for case screws although it is of ATX size which usually comes with 9 holes.

Be aware that older BIOS (0605/0805) will not display any video if trying to boot with a Samsung 970 EVOPlus NVMe SSD. I had to remove it to be able to see BIOS/UEFI on boot. After updating to BIOS 1002 the card was recognized and I had video.
Also note that this board only has four (4) SATA III ports. It was all I needed but has caught others by surprise.

I did the basic troubleshooting once all 4 slots full caused BSOD. 3 slots caused BSOD. 2!! slots caused BSOD. I tried one stick at a time in each slot to see if the slots were bad or if the memory was bad.
On both boards all 4 sticks worked in one slot. The rest of the slots filled in any order caused BSOD.
Thank you amazon prime. I don't have to deal with anyone when it comes to getting a replacement. If it doesn't work amazon will send you another in two days. How amazing is that?
Gave a little tug and a wiggle to get it free and pow, the whole sata connection and half the pins came off!!! I barely even touched it. Luckily the board still works, and the other sata ports seem fine. I'm going to keep this board as otherwise it's been pretty good so far. I can't suggest it to anyone though because of this issue.

Not only the motherboard stopped working after a month, but when I called for support they asked me to send it to a "repair" centre which takes up to 10 business day, and they didn't provide a shipping label. I have to pay for the shipment (using a traceable carrier like FedEx, UPS).
I have always bought Asus motherboards, due to the high quality and all the features i'm looking for.
A very satisfied customer - 5 Stars all the way !!!!!
