Grenz's book is well-written in an engaging style that enables the reader to navigate through the ambiguous and disconcerting waters of postmodernism.... This book is also well documented and provides a number of important sources benefiting anyone wishing to further pursue the ideas and figures discussed. -- Westminster Theological Journal --This text refers to the Audio CD edition.
From the Back Cover
From the Academy to Pop Culture, our society is in the throes of change rivaling the birth of modernity out of the decay of the Middle Ages. We are now moving from the modern to the postmodern era. But what is postmodernism? How did it arise? What characterizes the postmodern ethos? Who are its leading advocates? Most important of all, what challenges does this cultural shift present to the church, which must proclaim the gospel to the emerging postmodern generation? Stanley J. Grenz here charts the postmodern landscape. He shows the threads that link art and architecture, philosophy and fiction, literary theory and television. He shows how the postmodern phenomenon has actually been in the making for a century, also introducing readers to the contemporary gurus of the postmodern mind-set. Scholarly yet accessible to all, this volume is an indispensable guide for understanding contemporary Western culture.

In light of the reality that our society/culture/nation is becoming more and more postmodern, we need to learn to connect with and communicate absolute truth and meta-narrative (e.g. the gospel of Jesus' sinless humanity and divine nature, sacrificial death on behalf of all sinners, victory over sin and the grave, and offer of forgiveness and righteousness through faith with repentance) through community, conversation (i.e. personal narrative), and other means familiar to postmodern persons.
The quality of this specific copy of the book was decent. Lots of highlighting. But it was dirt cheap, so I'm quite fine with that.
