While all these changes are going on in Olivia’s life, someone is out to destroy the happiness that she is finally found, and it is up to Colleen (the Gallagher’s ghostly grandmother) to find a way to save Olivia from certain death and to ensure that Olivia and Finn get the happily ever after they both deserve.
I really enjoyed Primrose Lane! Right from the beginning, I was instantly captivated and found myself connecting and caring for each of the characters. This is a delightful story with just the right combination of romance, drama, suspense and ghostly intervention. I loved the small town feel and felt as though I was right at home with the characters as they faced their challenges head on. Debbie Mason is a talented storyteller that provides her readers with an exceptional story that is guaranteed to be an enjoyable reading experience that is not only captivating but unforgettable as well. If you enjoy a sweet romance that is not only filled with love and hope, but is suspenseful as well, then I highly recommend Primrose Lane!
I have read this entire series. While this book can stand alone mostly, I really suggest you read the whole thing for the back history. It is #3 in the series and well the series has sorta been a love it and hate it thing for me. I LOVE the characters. I absolutely do which is why I keep reading it. But the plots go off in these directions that I really hate.Which is why its hard to rate.
I loved Finn and Olivia/Dana. The first part of the book was fantastic. Finn and Dana have this love/hate thing and as he hobbles around time as she keeps reinjuring him, well I laughed at these two's hijinks. I really do love the characters and the authors sense of humor.
But then she (the author) changes the storyline like she did in the other two books and I hated it like I did then too. This would have been a great romance between Dana, a woman in disguise whose super rich and Finn, the doctor who likes to work with the poor. They have great chemistry and they are cute and funny together. Dana is getting over the loss of her son and her bad marriage and Finn is recovering from an injury. Add in matchmakers and this story starts out really great.
But then the storyline changes and the author adds in a bigamist marriage and a child that her husband had with another woman who looks like her dead child and now both the mother and father are dead and so she is forced to take care of the child. The child who is not cute and sweet but who is mean and mean spirited and looks just like her dead child.
This book could have been great. The writing is wonderful. The characters are great. This should have been a fantastic book, except the author then changes the entire storyline and its just not what I read romances for.
If you like pain and angyst in your stories and difficult children, then maybe you will love this story but it was just too much for me to watch a character I grew to love, watch her be tortured on a daily basis. It does bring Finn and Dana closer but I just did not love that aspect of this story.
Ever since Olivia buried her son and then her husband she has had problems sleeping and problems with anxiety, she took her prescriptions maybe a little more that recommended but Finn flat out telling her she was abusing it in front of an audience it embarrassed her. It isn't until Finn finds out who she is and what she went through that he realizes just how broken she thinks she is and he feels the need to fix it for her.
Olivia son was dying of cancer and everyone was making her feel guilty for trying everything to cure him. Olivia and her husband were separated, her husband was a doctor working in Africa had an affair and fathered another child shortly after their son died he on his way back to the states and his plane crashed. He died before Olivia could finalize the divorce. Olivia has been hiding from her past life hoping she could get past the pain and move on she thought she was finally doing it when her husband's lawyer calls her and informed her that she has gained custody of her husband's other child, and girl named George; her mother went missing and is presumed dead. After a near breakdown she admits everything to Finn who quickly jumps in to help out. Olivia doesn't want George but takes her in none the less, they drive each other crazy it seems that George listens to everyone but her it's only after they bond over the death of Olivia's son that they find some common ground and finally start to get along.
Finding peace with George isn't the only thing wreaking havoc in Olivia's life right now, after her husband's parents find out about George and know they can hurt Olivia with it they threaten to take George way from her. And there is still someone out to ruin Graystone Manor and this time Olivia gets caught in the crossfire. The romance between Finn and Olivia was a sweet one, he was a bit of an self righteous prig at the beginning but soon jumped in to help out. Understanding Olivia was just the start and once he realized he loved her all he had to do was convince her that nothing could come between them.
Overall, it was a eventful book so much happens it makes you laugh and cry and with a touch of suspense at the end this book really has it all, complete with a mischievous ghost and her cat.
