Tea drinker? Meet your new best friend!
An innovative tea bag brewing accessory, the Primula Tea Bag Buddy is the solution to tea drinker’s most common issues. Made of 100% Silicone, the Tea Bag Buddy is stain-resistant and microwave and dishwasher safe. The Tea Bag Buddy can be used with your favorite variety of tea bag, and the special slot on the top of the Tea Bag Buddy means that securing the tea bag string has never been easier! Keep your tea hot by using the Tea Bag Buddy as a lid on your favorite mug or pitcher. The 100% silicone Tea Bag Buddy traps heat and steam, insulating the mug to keep your tea brewing at the optimal temperature for full flavor extraction. Use the Tea Bag Buddy to squeeze excess water from hot tea bags keeping your fingers cool and dry! Between brews, hold the used tea bag in the convenient caddy that is created when the Tea Bag Buddy is turned upside down. Instead of a saucer, set wet tea bags directly in the Tea Bag Buddy. There will be no mess, since any excess liquid is collected in the Tea Bag Buddy’s deep reservoir. After use, simply put the Tea Bag Buddy in the dishwasher for quick and easy cleanup!
What is Borosilicate Glass?
Borosilicate glass is made mainly of silica and boron oxide. Known for having low thermal expansion properties, this type of glass is less subject to thermal stress and shock due to temperature extremes. This means that the glass can go from hot to cold and vice versa without risk of cracking or breaking. Borosilicate glass is a widely used material in cookware and beverageware products due to its heat resistance, durability, and versatility.

I brewed a cup of tea, let it steep the five minutes the bag called for (and the strength I like), then tried to use the silicone top to squeeze the bag. Well, that silicone was hot! It was nearly too hot to squeeze comfortably. Likewise, the insulating factor worked so well that I still needed to let my tea cool a smidge before drinking.
I finished my tea (it stayed nice and warm until I was done), and set the cup by the sink to wash later. I couldn't find on the box whether it was dishwasher safe, so I thought I would take the safe choice and handwash. Unfortunately, a small bump to the cup tipped it and it shattered in my sink. The glass is thin, which is why it is so lightweight. Sure, I could have been more careful, and glass breaks all the time. All in all, it's not a sturdy cup like I have seen some reviewers say.
It has been one month and no replacement.
What a piece of junk...a tea mug is supposed to be able to handle HOT water (I did not even use boiling water).
The only thing nice I can say is that it was a pretty mug if you don't use it.
Personally, I liked the mug part the best, although the little tail on the handle should not have been left. My pinkie does not fit inside, it's a bit in the way and no doubt will be broken off by the various cretins roaming the kitchen at my abode. That said, the mug seems sturdy yet light, even though the double-walled glass is quite thin. The mug is microwaveable (the package does not state this, although their site does if one looks very hard) and my tea was boiling nicely with no explosions or mishaps. And the mug was only lukewarm to the touch.
I used the silicone hat thingy to squeeze my teabag for all it was worth. Yes, it's faintly warm to the touch, but nothing seriously burning at all. Afterwards, I let the teabag drop into the proper disposal unit and poured a bit of Grand Marnier into the tea (with orange spice tea an excellent combination) and a bit of soy milk and was in heaven, holding a faintly warm mug with very hot tea inside. This is truly a special mug. The "Buddy"?Read more ›
The first thing I noticed about the mug when I unboxed it was the weight. It was very light, much lighter than a regular coffee mug. As I suspected, this did not bode well for the mug in terms of keeping tea warm for a long time. If the 'double-wall' construction helped at all, I was unable to tell.
You can buy the Tea Bag Buddy for around $5 separately, which would mean this mug costs about $15 - overpriced for what you get. I would not recommend buying the mug + TBB combo unless you're trying to buy a quick and easy gift. You'd be better off spending your $15 on a better quality mug that the TBB would work with. The TBB is 4.25" in diameter, so any mug smaller than that would work fine.
One quick note about the TBB. Mine did not really appear as bright green as you see in the product pictures. It actually was more of a puke/olive green. I added an image to this product listing to demonstrate. It's nothing that really annoys me but I was a little let down when I pulled it out of the box. Otherwise, I think it's a really smart little item.

Nice while it lasted. A fork bumped the mug and it shattered. Never had a glass break so easily. The bag holder top is still useful with other mugs.Published 2 months ago by SteamLoco76
