These authors NEED to state cliffhangers! It just frosts me they can't be honest! Its false advertising and it needs to stop!
When the story actually started moving, toward the end, of course, then it leaves us all hanging!
I refuse to give a good review since we aren't told its a dang cliffhanger! I n f u r I a t e d!!!!
Rowan and Cal are royals, they lived a life to perks but their parents tried to keep them grounded. They boys are close and have each others backs. They both love their country and they family. But both of these guys will get their worlds upside down when they meet Zee and Ava.
I liked the sparks between each couple, in their own way both couples fell hard. I enjoyed the writing and hate that its taken me this long to read something from this author. The story is pretty amazing....
Heres what I didn't care much for (but I didn't let it effect the my rating in any way)
I kinda felt the guys forgave the girls too easily, I don't know I kinda wanted some heartache, and maybe there will be in the next book.
YES YOU READ THAT RIGHT
Theres another book and I was left with a cliff hanger and I hate waiting (again this did not effect my rating) but I preordered the next book and I'm looking forward to it.
I'd say as long as you don't mind cliffy's get this book, its really really good
Tia Louise has a way of writing a story that makes you forget everything else going on around you, and this book is no different. I became so focused on Zee, Ava, Rowan, and Cal that I ignored everything else going on so I could see how this story played out.
We meet Zee and Ava, they have recently run away from their foster home and are working on making it alive out on the streets. Flash forward and now Zee is working with a group of people and running small time cons, with Ava as the distraction. She conned the wrong man, and is now in the biggest con of her life, and not sure she wants to actually do it, but when lives are threatened she knows she doesn't have a choice.
Rowan and Cal are princes who are trying to win over the cabinet so Rowan can take his birth righted place as King. Rowan didn't want this life thrown on him so unexpectedly but now that it is, he's working on making his country a better place. After kicking his uncle Reggie out after hearing him, and Henry (a high ranking cabinet member) plotting to kill his father and combine two nations. Thing's aren't easy for Rowan when Zee and Ava enter his life.
The goal was for Rowan to fall for Zee, but things definitely do not go as planned, and even though it was bad for the job, I loved the pairings that were made. Cal and Zee have this connection that you can't deny, both of them care for their siblings, and are passionate, and they offset each other, while Ava and Rowan are a match made in heaven. When things continue to go wrong, and Zee realizes that she's been played, I was hoping upon hope that things would work out for these four amazing characters, but it definitely gets a little hairy for all of them
This book has many twists and turns and the ending? Let's just say I'm counting down the days till September to find out how everything plays out. Since this book is told in both Zee and Rowan's points of view, we never really get to see what's going on in Cal and Ava's heads, but I'm hoping we get some insight into them in the next book. So much happens in this book that I can't talk about without spoiling it for the reader, but let me say, if you want a sexy and thrilling contemporary romance to read, definitely pick up The Prince and the Player today!
I am from the age of The Princess Diaries and The Prince and Me coming to theaters, so I would like to think I am not only experienced in such books, but I also tend to be skeptical that I will be getting a fresh idea when it comes to such sub-genres. HOWEVER, Tia Louise took everything I have ever loved about these books and movies and added a fun twist on the romantic side to really make it stand on its own. It is like she took The Prince and the Pauper, The Prince and Me, and maybe even a bit of Cinderella and made it into one huge and thrilling ride through her idea of modern royalty.
Zelda Wilder is a fascinating heroine. She may not be the first female con I have read… but she will go down as the most memorable and as my absolute favorite. Her loyalty to her sister never wavers right through the end of this first book. She is NOBLE in her own right. She would be the equivalent of a slightly dark Ella from Ella Enchanted.
While Rowan may channel his inner Edy (The Prince and Me) in his thoughts, he is already leaps and bounds ahead of providing his country with the leadership it needs. He is quite serious and rigid, but I think readers will fall in love with him slowly.
The rest of the characters truly add more to the story, and as much as I would LOVE to profess my love for them… this story line is tricky tricky!
This book is for anyone who loves any of the above mentioned movies. This book is for anyone who wants a bit of a romantic twist. And lastly, this book is for anyone who loves one heck of a thrilling climax.
