Despite the fact that I think of myself being well versed in the world Ms.Gideon created I got lost and this book didn’t seem to really be a part of it at all. I didn’t really see the romance between Colin and Mia. It either happened when I wasn’t looking or I disliked Mia so much that my mind refused to see it. I almost gave up a few times when it came to finishing this book. I’ve had it since it came out, but it had been sitting on my kindle since then. Every time I started it Mia ticked me off and I didn’t want to read anymore.
Why? When it was her turn for the PoV she seemed like such a liar about what she really wanted and was complicit in doing some bad stuff to the good guys all in the name of her getting the spot she thought was her’s in the pack back home. I didn’t understand her desire to even be in charge there all I really got was her personal mission to f’up the Tariot’s. Also that little bit after Colin was attacked … not cool at all just not cool at all.
Colin’s PoV when it came to how he felt about Mia … well I didn’t really get it because to me it didn’t seem that she actually did anything to deserve his devotion. I mean at first she was with Rico and then magically she’s not? His relationship with his mother and half sisters was heart breaking. I totally felt his pain in regards to that. Also for a smart man he was pretty freaking stupid when it came to assuming the worst about his king and brother when it came to being faithful.
I *hate* conflict/drama over miscommunications or something that could have been solved with a bit more investigation or … like … asking.
I was rewarded by pushing through the stuff that I didn’t like. The last third of the book was actually pretty cool. I think it was because other characters, that I did like, showed up in the book and there wasn’t much of Mia. I used to dislike Sylvia the same, but it took a book or two and superb writing on Gideon’s part to redeem her and make her a character I like now. However the reasoning behind her villainy was due to her mother and how she was brought up and a little bit of information about why she acted the way she did was not enough to make me like Mia again.
I almost gave this book a 2 rating, but the end totally made up for it so I changed it to a 3.
Up next is Rico … and Amber. Oh joy another character I didn’t like at all the first time I met her. If anyone is familiar with the intro of her character you might get my animosity for her. I’m thinking though that over the last several books Amber is growing on me a little bit. So I will be looking forward to the next book.
Mia Guedry is a woman looking for revenge. She's on a mission to claim her rightful place at the head of the Guedry clan. To do so, Mia has to prove herself tough enough, cold enough to commit the ultimate crime. She needs information and is willing to do whatever it takes to get it - even sleeping with the enemy while playing brother against brother. Mia can't afford to go all soft & gooey over the man who steals her breath - the prince she desires more than any other. The Terriots killed her family. It's up to her to avenge them. Will her betrayal cost Colin his life?
Prince Of Power is a powerful story of obsession, betrayal, and revenge. Time is running out for Colin to uncover the traitor living within the House of Terriots. Time is also running out for Mia to claim the Guedry throne. All hell breaks loose in New Orleans as age old enemies clash. Who will be left standing when the dust settles? Will there ever be a time for Colin & Mia?
Intricately woven plot lines and complex characters carry Prince Of Power to a block buster revelation and ending. Hearts are broken as betrayals and ulterior motives are disclosed. Fans will love the strong support cast featuring old favorites like Max and Silas from the By Moonlight series representing their clans. Things are heating up in New Orleans in more ways than one as once again, the Terriot princes strut their stuff while loving, fighting, drinking, dancing, and stealing hearts. Hold onto your heart (& panties, Ladies) . . . The Terriot princes are back! Prince Of Power is another Page Burning Must Read!
Mia is the heir to her family but as a girl, she's pushed aside and looked over. Determined to get what she deserves, she tries anything including using Colin, but when her heart gets involved...she's gotta fight with not only her family but his.
As a couple, Colin and Mia are stronger together but they fight with each other over remaining in charge. Luckily, they aren't alone. Ms. Gideon adds back into this book many of her favorite characters from her other New Orleans series. Add a dash of magic and danger, you have a compelling story to keep you reading through the night.
Mia Guerdry is from the clan that is an enemy to the house of Terriot. She is a fire cracker and is trying to prove herself as being worthy to step into the role of the next leader for the Guerdry clan. In doing so she is power hungry and tries to deny her feelings for Colin while betraying him behind his back. Mia was a hard character for me to like, in the end she probably is my least favorite heroine so far.
This book has very thing you could be looking for and more. Definite page turner for me and I enjoyed every second.
