The Prince’s Runaway Lover is a story of finding the right person who will accept you for who you are and what you’ve done. It’s a fast read with engaging characters that make you want to turn page after page to find out their story.

Let’s talk about Nick, shall we? I loved him. He’s this bad boy royal who was never supposed to be king. But life happens, his brother dies, and now he’s about to be coronated king of a small, but wealthy Mediterranean country. In the midst of all this his staff and mother keep telling him that he’s been away too long, he needs to settle down and find an appropriate wife. Needless to say this doesn’t go over too well because if Nick is anything, he’s stubborn and does what he wants when he wants. A byproduct of being the spare, I’m sure. All in all though, it just endears himself to me.

Through all this he starts a small relationship with a gardener in the palace named Isabel. She stumbles upon him one day jogging and joins him not even realizing he was the Crown Prince. How she doesn’t realize it is beyond me because she works in the palace and should know who is ultimately employing her. But that’s beside the point. Nick finds himself drawn to Isabel. She doesn’t care that he’s a prince which is a refreshing aspect for him. He knows she has her own secrets but he still finds himself falling for her and will do his best to see that she’s his forever.

I didn’t really care for Isabel if I’m being honest. She’s not a bad character and there are parts of her that are very relatable but she just really annoyed him throughout the novel. I did like her attitude towards Nick even though I loathed it so much when she referred to him as ‘Nicky’.

This was the first book I read by Robin Covington, and she did no disappoint.

** Prince Nicholas Lytton of Callanos lived his life chasing the thrill of sports, women, and living the life of luxury. The unfortunate and untimely death of this brother, the king, Nicholas is now the Crown Prince, and next king. A position that was never suppose to be his. A position he isn't sure he wants. And a position no one believes he's ready to take.

Palace gardener, Isabel Reynolds keeps to herself and tries to keep attention away from her as much as possible. She's has a past, a secret that could destroy not only her life, but anyone who cares about. No matter how tempting the promise of happily ever after my sound. **

The Prince's Runaway Lover had me from the beginning and just didn't let go. I can't imagine being in Nicholas's position. Living your life the way you want one minute. Then the next, receiving some news that as literally stopped your world and turned it upside down. Nicholas is forced into his new life, with almost little to no time to adjust or find his way. He sees the king he wants to be, but it's also against the way Parliament says he should be.

Isabel opens Nicholas's eyes to help him finally see how he should rule his country, and gives him the courage to be the king he knows he can, and should be. And once Isabel's secrets comes out, he returns the favor by supporting her, and fights her battle with her.

I love both the characters, of Nicholas and Isabel. Both are amazing and strong. While Nicholas is lost and can't find his way, Isabel is there, showing him what he needs to see, in his country and in himself. She's there for him as a person, a friend, and eventually a lover.

I am going to start with saying I loved this book. Robin Covington never lets me down when I want a fantastic, hot, fun read and she absolutely did it again with this book. Okay and the cover is pretty hot too. Let me tell you this, the cover model IS the hero, he’s perfect.

This book was had me hooked from the first page when it started off with a bang and kept me enthralled to the last page that I turned with a big fat goofy grin. It had the perfect mix of romance, drama and two wonderful main characters that you will love.

Nick and Isabel, though not meant to be perfect for each other totally are. I loved this pairing. You have the playboy Prince and spare heir who is suddenly thrust into a role he is unprepared for and already has someone fighting him for it and the gardener Isabel who while hiding her domestic abuse past has found happiness in her job but is always looking over her shoulder. Together they see the other as they really are without title and fear.

When a morning run leads to them meeting, sparks immediately fly between them. But they both know that they should ignore them as Nick has to prove he’s worthy of the crown and Isabel is leaving. They become friends but soon the attraction proves too hard to ignore and they throw caution to the wind and give in and find themselves in a whirlwind romance.

“People only give a damn when I’m interested in a woman beyond mere friendship, and that is why they would give a damn about you, Isabel, because I am interested in you far beyond the boundaries of friendship.
