"Martinez-Neal's illustrations, featuring stylishly exaggerated figures rendered in warm tones and delicate lines, are inspired by the textile designs of the indigenous people of Peru. I am an ESL teacher and this is a great book for new English readers, the few Spanish words help them to have better comprehension as a new learner. But I also love this book for American children, it allows them to see fairy tales they know in the context of other cultures. They can see that they have more in common with others than they do differences. And it has a few Spanish words that they can easily learn and use daily, a great way to introduce a new language to them in a fun way.
