I was really looking forward to a travel guide book targeted for single/independent female travellers. The tips provided in the book are helpful but the price I paid for the book versus the quantity AND quality of helpful information provided was a huge disappointment. The book included typos, grammatical errors and the illustrations were hard to decipher. Several pages consisted of doodles and drawings from the author. Very nice to set the mood of the book - light-hearted and fun, yes I get that. And the book didn't give tips I was looking for - the ones that would assist a "princess" in coping with challenges while backpacking through Europe. It was basically common sense tips I could find in a generic travel guide book. If I had known the text in the book was going to be size 16 Time New Romans font, with 1.5 lines spacing, I surely would not have purchased this book. It was like a children's book. Very superficial book - good for the coffee table. Not on the train, plane or hostel to carry you through your trip or help you plan your once-in-a-lifetime adventure.
The tips and information were only specific to the author's trip. So if you're trip through Europe doesn't follow the same itinerary as the author's - don't buy the book! Go for a Lonely Planet or do your own research.
I highly recommend: "Europe: A Savvy Girl's Guide" by Melanie Gall. Much more comprehensive, great practical information specific to females, and a good value book you can definitely take with you in your travels.
Trust me - if you're going to be spending a lot of your hard-earned money and precious time traveling throughout Europe, you definitely want a book full of useful and helpful information.

I really enjoyed the updated version of this travel guide, the tips were invaluable to me on my solo travels around Asia and Europe. The guide is smaller, more condensed, packs light, and is packed with more and useful tips. If you're looking for packing tips, some inspiration, and a fun read, I highly recommend this guide.

Great inside tips to travel on a budget and in style! "Princess with a Backpack" offers great advice for 'princesses' who want to brave the world on their own! It has checklists for what to pack for summer or winter, safety tips for when you have to crash in an airport, how to maintain frizzy hair without a hairdryer (top tip!!) and on top of a bunch of practical girlie tips - inspirational quotes and insights to help you get the most out of your backpacking adventure!

Cute, fun, practical and inspirational! Buy it for yourself or for a friend who is preparing to travel...it will turn you (or your friend) from a novice backpacker into an expert! :D
