Enter Anderson's book! He spells out a path of excellence that leads to positive results. He shows men and women how to become outstanding leaders at every level of business and beyond. I especially appreciated his black-box vignettes that drove home his points: "The accomplishments of great leaders are not about power. They are about results." Additionally, "The most worthwhile self-development begins with individuals deciding to take personal responsibility for their own growth and success."
Your learning curve gallops to new horizons with Anderson's book. He pinpoints your strengths, gathers your understanding and helps you apply your knowledge to the best possible outcome for you, your company and the highest and best for everyone being led by you. This book excels in the 21st century with dynamic writing, solid principles and exceptional energy that leaps off the page. I highly recommend it for anyone moving forward and making great things happen in the world. Frosty Wooldridge, six continent world bicycle traveler, teacher, speaker, author of 12 books on adventure
Jim Anderson does an excellent job of providing a game plan to follow to become a better leader. The structured approach provides motivation by citing examples of leadership demonstrated by well known leaders from the past and present. The presentation of the historical results of such assessment tools as the Most Preferred Leadership Quality Survey allow the reader to understand the twelve most important leadership qualities, and the importance of each. Case studies are provided to allow the individual to work independently, or with others to apply the concepts learned from the text to theoretical situations.
I found the goal setting portion of the book at the end to be very helpful. It inspired me to reflect on what I had learned from the text, prioritize what was important to improve my leadership skills, and create a set of goals to use to apply these principles to my leadership style and behaviors.
Anderson has taken the characteristics of renowned and respected World figures to be his visual blackboard for those desiring to emulate effective and respected leadership. By combining the visuals of known historical figures with the powerful words and charisma they demonstrated, Principle-Based Leadership breathes life into a topic of discussion and learning that might otherwise be forgotten or not ever recognized.
Through a thoughtfully crafted step-by-step process this book will make ever reader a better and more respected leader.
