I had read the book years ago on loan from a friend. I wanted to see it again and really study what he was saying. I was desperate on what to do about the extra weight on my body.
What he says is simple and makes sense. He writes in terms that anyone can understand. I am learning about how hormones work in the body and how to get them under control when they are out of whack. He answers the questions I have been asking and I feel that I am getting the correct reason on why I can't lose weight and what to sensibly do about it. It also recognizes that bodies are different- one diet can't work for everyone.

My sister found this book and lost 40 pounds before she came to visit me in the spring. She got me started on the basic diet (and I will admit that she customized it somewhat) before I even bought the book. After reading the details I remained on the diet (and am still on it) losing 25 pounds easily and amazingly in just 5 months. 5 pounds a month! And it was easy. I think it's a plan that I'll be able to hold onto for life. I highly recommend giving it a chance. Make it work for you!

Dr. Eric Berg has some good points to make. I don't think he has the right science lined up all the time, but sometimes you get a gem from him. In particular, the research on fats and heart disease seems to be ignored in much of his work. He is doing real work with vitamin K2, however, and that is worth looking into.

So this helped me figure out what was going on with me before the Drs did. They actually got the first diagnoses wrong and then I read the book and asked them if they could do a lab work to check my thyroid function and I was right. Anyway it's a good tool and has nice meal plans to guide you.

I found the first read through this book to be very compelling. I finished it in a couple settings which is quite uncommon for me. The principles are effective and make sense. I've lost 35 pounds, dramatically improved my cholesterol scores, and I feel healthier. I definitely recommend this book. However, the way this book is organized makes it a horrible reference tool. For example, there is no index which makes it very difficult to look up specific information over time. Now, I suppose if you have perfect memory that wouldn't be an issue. But for most people you will be frustrated trying to find out if pineapple is good or bad for you after you've been following the program for a few weeks. If this book had a good index I would definitely give it five stars. It would also be nice if there were more recipes.

It wasn't until I actually read through this book to really understand that my thyroid was in bad shape. I have had most of the symptoms of hypothyroid for close to 3 years, getting worse every year, including not being able to lose stubborn weight! The liver affects 80% of thyroid functions, and if your liver isn't up to par, either is your thyroid. This book will help you to eat the right foods to better the function of these extremely important glands. Also as important is learning about the ovary and adrenal glands and what all these glands do to burn fat in the body. I look forward to getting myself healthier, first, and then losing unwanted weight!

My husband and I bought this book for weight loss. We found it to be very informative. It explains the functions of our hormones, and how to balance your hormones to achieve fat burning with diet and exercise. There is a lot of research from other places, and so the book contains info from many different sources with the research and results. This makes it a very comprehensive study, it is probably equivalent to readng several different books on this subject. He has lost 25lbs in a month, and I have lost 50lbs over 3 months.
