Review
Simply stated, this book finally organizees the subject matter of our sub-speciality in the way it should be done. Probably the most useful reference book for any specialist in this field.

.... based on the wealth of information provided, it is a very useful guide on individual problems and isolated aspects of forensic psychiatry even for the European readers, although a more intensive study of secondary literature should not be dispensed with after scutinizing the chapters on "Principles and Practice of forensic psychiatry".
International Journal of Legal Medicine Volume 119
The first edition of this book was an intellectual landmark...the authors have to run as hard as they can to stay where they are. They have done that, and the second edition remains a landmark.
American Psychiatric Association
Dr Rosner, as the editor, has pulled together a diverse set of 105 author experts in 92 chapters for another winning production. It is the kind of publication that I longed for in my training days and still turn to when searching out an area and wanting a review chapter.

- Reviewed in the United States on March 28, 2015One of the best textbooks in Forensic Psychiatry . Quite comprehensive and detailed . There is some redundancy and some of the chapters in juvenile forensic issues are not as well written as in the rest of the book . The section on Landmark cases does not highlight the issues or the holding of the case clearly . I gives the book 4 and a a half stars

- Reviewed in the United States on December 18, 2013could be better. it's nicely advertised, but it certainly does not provide proper information. It's tedious and long, and it isn't informative. Opt for another neurological volume, this isn't a good call.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 6, 2008There are seemingly endless "handbooks" and "basic principles" texts on the market for almost any topic or specialty in the mental health field. What distinguishes this book from others of its kind is its accessibility, breadth and clarity. It identifies the relevant questions in the field and addresses them without sacrificing clinical sophistication. As someone who is not a forensic specialist, I found I could readily apply the content of this book to the subset of my patients for whom this material is relevant. This is a great resource. Highly recommended.
