If you are looking for inspiration for new and fabulous patterns and colourways for your own designs, this is the book. It is chock full of many, many designs from different artists from all around the globe. I very much enjoyed reading the bios about each designer. The book itself is thick, with heavy weight page stock and about 300 pages. I also ordered the Patterns and Prints of Nature book and again, there is an overwhelming abundance of very colorful designs. I am a relief print artist and print in one or two colors. With all the color and general complexity of patterns, it did take some time going through the pages repeatedly, to winnow out this type of simpler design. However, that is simply my preference and no reflection on how valuable and enjoyable this book is for those who love pattern and color.

This is SUCH a great, inspiring book. It's packed full (over 300 glossy pages, with full-size color plates on almost every page) of amazing, vibrant, detailed geometric patterns. I assumed that the basic style of the patterns would be line-drawn, but the book includes all sorts of geometric patterns, including watercolor splats, kaleidoscope effects, offset printing, doodles, primitive-inspired designs, Mid-Century Modern inspired patterns... it's just a visual feast.
I'm a painter/illustrator that does a lot of tiny, intricate details and patterns in the larger areas of my canvases, and so I'm always collecting any and all books and resources that are related to line drawing, geometric patterns, symbols and signs, and hand-drawn illustration. This book is at the TOP of my list for inspiration. I could literally look at it for hours and hours and keep finding tons of new things to marvel over.
I can't recommend this book enough. True eye candy and inspiration.
