I was so excited to order these colored pencils. Unfortunately, about 1/2 the leads are broken so all I have done is sharpened them and I've used the Prismacolor sharpener. It was a lot of money for pencils that I can't even use! I am not sure what they did with these but I am definitely not please!

So excited waiting for these. Thought long and hard, not chump change we are talking about. Arrived on time,that was grand. Box was packed ok, but when I took it out, it was dented beyond repair. I had bought the 48 box, and I loved the colors, not so here, 20 greys, unrealistic blues, greens and not one true red or any sin tones. Split barrels, in 3 weeks down to unusable nubs already.

I love Prismacolor Premier pencils. They are so smooth and rich. I prefer them over Faber Castell polychromous and all the other brands I have tried. BUT, I purchased the 132 pencil set about a month ago and they have begun to fall apart. I don't have a problem with the lead breaking BUT the wood is splitting. Very disappointing.

I love prismacolor premiers but I ordered the 132 set and there's a bunch of off center also I got a couple of contaminated pencil that has specks of different pigments in it.. Also I got like 5-6 pencils that have crack/splitting on the wooden case.. I ordered replacement and see if this any better quality wise.

Nothing worse than broken leads

I am highly upset. I waited a very long time to be able to afford these pencils and was super excited to finally get them and use them. The colors are amazing! The pigments are so rich and beautiful, but there's one thing I can't stand and that's broken leads. Olive Green is a MAJOR color I use in all landscape pictures, and of all pencils, the lead is completely useless. See photos, I'm still trying to sharpen it as I write this review. In my experience if one pencil has broken leads then there are almost ALWAYS several more. I am very unsatisfied and feel like there should have been more care taken to prevent this for as much as they cost. I will not be purchasing these again, and I will also not recommend they be purchased from here. Next time I'll just order Arteza or go to Michael's. It's a shame too, because I was super happy to finally afford them and didn't even get my money's worth. **Update: Another pencil has broken lead, Marine Green. At this rate I won't be able to use any of the greens. Very unhappy ☹️***

I was so nervous about ordering these pencils because many of the the reviewers had received broken damaged pencils. I actually ordered a different set by another maker but needed more colors so I broke down and ordered these with my fingers crossed hoping I'd get a good set. I was beyond thrilled when I received my package and all the pencils were intact! I checked and had no duplicates and all were in great shape. I've sharpened several of them now and have not had any lead breakage. These pencils are so soft and the colors beautiful. It is easy to blend, layer, and color with them. I use these along with my Derwent Inktense pencils in my adult coloring book. My daughter loves to color and wanted me to color with her. Her Crayola's weren't doing it for me so I decided to invest in a couple of sets of good pencils to color with and get my own book. These are great pencils and I'm happy with my purchase.
I colored this page using both sets of my pencils (Prismacolor Premier and Derwent Inktense).

These are the best colors pencils I have ever used. They blend beautifully. I am able to give the illusion of realism that I was looking to achieve. I love them and worth every penny. I seen them other places, but they cost so much more. I have included a couple of pictures I drew of a leaf using these colored pencil and I also add a picture of a real leaf and the drawing of the leaf I did so you can see how detailed these pencils can get.

Such a treat. I've had these for months now, and they are going strong. I color and draw as a hobby; I mostly use these for coloring books.

(1) Colors: These colors are gorgeous. It makes me happy just looking at them, let alone coloring with them. I appreciate the many gradients of gray, the subtlety involved. FYI, you can't erase this stuff, but why would you want to?
(2) Material: a classy, Audrey Hepburn-league pencil made babies with the most velvety, smooth, rich clay-like pastel. (Like, what a pastel *wishes* it could be.) Dukes give tgese pencils to their daughters.
(3) Cost: Prismacolor continues to be the best. Worth the extra money. For Prismacolor sets, Amazon had the best prices. I coveted this set for months before buying. I started dating the 48 set before marrying this one. And, indeed, a match well made.

Suggestion -- Highly recommend getting a carrier case. The pencils are packaged in flimsy plastic trays, within the large Prismacolor tin. This is not a good setup. (Pencils fall out, it's hard to access the colors if you'd rather not cover an entire table with trays.....) Here's the 5/5 star carrier I got on Amazon:

Very Happy with My Prismacolor Premier Pencils - wish I had bought them before!

I have wanted to buy these pencils for a very long time but was always put off by reports of them being damaged in transit on arrival and/or very fragile in use with frequent breakages. But having decided finally to take the plunge I am so very pleased I did because I absolutely love them! I deliberately chose to buy the 132 set because they were described as packaged in a tin rather than in a box, so I felt they would have a better chance of arriving undamaged. I am pleased I did so but, given how well they were packaged for shipping, I may well have been fine with the larger set. I have several sets of artist quality pencils - including Polychromos - and these Prismacolor Premier are, in my view, up there with the best. The colour lays down well, and I am looking forward to using them more fully over time. There is a really good variety of colours and I like that the pencils are numbered and named on the barrel. Out of the box the pencils are pre-sharpened to a very "shallow angle" and, having heard about the reputed difficulty in sharpening them I have not had any issues. A couple of the pencils didn't sharpen well first time but may have been me being a bit overzealous with my sharpening. For information, in case it helps anyone else, I use a Helix A5 helical pencil sharpener - one that you "wind" with a handle (like we often had on the teacher's desk at school) and it works really well. Anytime I feel the pencil sharpening isn't stopping when it hits the stop I have set, I just pull the pencil out of the sharpener to check what's happening so I don't oversharpen them. The only thing to raise is that my pencils are made in Mexico not in USA as stated in the sales description - and from what I have read that matters to people In terms of the perceived quality of the pencils.

I bought this product after buying a 72 set in America. The pencils came quickly and there is a great range of colors including pastel shades. They are very soft and great for blending. The packaging was all intact. I have not had any breakages yet and they sharpen well. I went for the 132 set as I think the 150 would have just given me more greys and browns and the price point was too high for the 150 set. I like bright colors so I was not gaining very much. Very happy with my purchase. I gave them a four star since FC polychromos are my favorite but that is just personal choice.

Pencils came in an undamaged tin. All colours and no repeats. Lay down and blend beautifully. Exactly the same quality as pencils bought a year ago from other seller. It is true that some do break when sharpening but think it is more to do with transit and delivery rather than quality. These do have Mexico stamped on them but I have read all pencils are made there now. I am very happy with my purchase . Four stars just because of the delivery method not the quality.

J'ai longtemps hésité et consulté des avis sur le net avant de choisir ces crayons. Je suis ravie de mon choix.
Les couleurs sont lumineuses et intenses. Nul besoin de multiples couches pour obtenir des aplats (cf photo). Le mélange des couleurs se fait assez facilement. J'avais d'abord acheté un crayon blender d'une autre marque mais le blender Prismacolor est beaucoup plus efficace. Après de mutliples essais je trouve qu'utiliser du solvant pour le premier layer rend plus facile le mélange des couleurs ensuite.
J'adore le rendu qui fait penser à de la peinture et on peut appliquer ensuite toutes sortes de vernis.
Mon papier préféré pour ces crayons est un papier aquarelle car ils glissent mieux pendant la mise en couleur. Le grain est à l'appréciation de chacun. Pour ma part, je n'ai pas trop apprécié le bristol comme il est souvent conseillé sur le web.
Il est dommage que les couleurs ne soient pas "classées" dans la boîte mais cela pousse à faire son propre nuancier ce qui est bien utile.
Je n'ai pas eu trop de problèmes de mines qui se cassent lorsqu'on les taille. Il suffit en fait de placer le crayon quelques minutes au micro ondes et le tour est joué !
Dommage qu'ils ne soient pas faciles à trouver à l'unité ou trop souvent à des prix prohibitifs !
En résumé, cette boîte est devenue mon "trésor". C'est un investissement mais qui représente tant d'heures de plaisir !
