Erasability: These erase better than then Verithin line as shown in the photo that has the Violet Blue Verithin erased vs the Col-Erase shown in the Blue, Purple and Black. The pink erasers work well on the pencil ends but I prefer to use the white ones made by Pentel or Staedtler. They don't "eat away" at the paper as much.
Lay Down: Color is smooth! Smoother than the Crayola Erasables and feels better when using and sharpening. Nice sharp tips with the right sharpener!
FYI: These Individual Colored Pencils are available at Dick Blick for less than $1.00.. Handy if you use a lot of a couple of colors.
SHARPENERS: The Brass Bullet provides the sharpest tips but requires a trash can. The Prismacolor Premier is a great all around sharpener with less mess and offers the colored pencil hole that seems to provide a nice tip without eating up your colored pencils. The Faber-Castell in the triangular shape is great for the triangular shaped colored pencils out there and offers 4 holes to sharpen the variety of sizes but makes a little bit of a mess when the colored shavings from the tips falls out when you open it. I love all three for different reasons.. Tips for proper sharpening can be found on the Prismacolor website and Dick Blicks website.
PRISMACOLOR TEMPLATE: GO TO THE PRISMACOLOR WEBSITE AND CLICK ON THEIR COLORED PENCIL INFORMATION (any type). You will see a small banner about halfway down the page on the right with a green pencil that says "Download Here".. You should be able to click on that and then print your very own copy! Hope this helps! ;)
Or here is the link, but I HIGHLY recommend you go to some of the primary "artist's" brands website for tips and techniques with colored pencils.. Copy and paste into your browser.
First sample, pencil test:
Top: Prismacolor Premier Colored Pencil, Non-Photo Blue
Middle: Prismacolor Col-Erase Erasable Colored Pencils, Non-Photo Blue, 12-Pack (20028)
Bottom: CREATIVE ART MATERIALS Sketcher Non-Photo Blue 2 Pc Blister Card (903.302 )
Second test, eraser.
First: normal white eraser
Second: kneaded eraser
Third: Prismacolor's col-erase eraser (its eraser worked, at least...)
Fourth: Sketcher's eraser
Between the three of them, I like the Sketcher the best. It hates sharpeners and breaks easily, but at least it erases well.
Side Note: One complaint I do have is the barcode sticker on every single pencil in the pack. The stickers begin to peel up and stick to the other pencils as well as my hand. However, although the stickers don't completely stick to the pencils, they are not easily peeled off. Attempts to peel off the sticker not only pulls the paint off the pencil but it also leaves heavy amount of glue residue, too. There really is no point to the sticker as the pencil model number is printed on every single pencil. This just seems completely unnecessary.
