Private Paris: The Most Beautiful Apartments (English and French Edition) Hardcover – November 1, 1988
The City of Light has never blazed with more intensity than in the luminous pages of 'Private Paris.' Assembled here is a constellation of extraordinary residences whose beauty will astound and delight. From the richly appointed salons of Marie-Helene Rothschild's celebrated Hotel Lambert to the understated chic of Manuel Canovas, author Marie-France Boyer leads us on an intimate tour of the great tastemakers and offers insight into what it is to live and love Paris. This richly illustrated, elegant book contains a vast range of styles, and features the previously unpublished work of the most acclaimed international interior designers, including Jacques Grange, Barbara Wirth, Henri Samuel, Renzo Mongiardino, and Andre Putman. The cover is misleading! There is not an apartment in this book in which I'd want to spend 5 minutes. As an interior designer and shameless Francophile, I was really puzzled by the interiors chosen. It's as if they looked for the darkest, dingiest, weird-for-weirdness' sake-est, most uncomfortable-looking and just overall...bleh!!!...interiors that could be found. Glad I only paid a few bucks for a used copy.

I bought this at an antique mall and came to Amazon to find something similar. As an interior design with experience in only AD100 offices, this book is hands down my favorite book to open. I, like the other reviewer, am OBSESSED with anything French, however, I'd imagine it took quite some time to access and photograph these "dingy" and "dark" homes. Just scan the Table of Contents - these are the homes of French design MASTERS - Jean Pierre Raynaud, Jacques Grange, Jacques Garcia...etc. It's a gem and must-have coffee table book. Being that these are the homes of icons, the designs are absolutely incredible and you'll surely find something new each time.
