I cannot recommend this product to anybody.
You might be thinking, "ok fine, but what if I wanted to use it for side scrolling games that only support Wii remotes since it seems like it would be more comfortable?" Well, you'd be wrong again because the button mapping is so odd and uncomfortable that you'd be better off sticking with your Wii remote. Here's why: anyone interested in a controller that looks like this is likely familiar with SNES controllers and would want to play any 2 button games with their thumb over the Y and B buttons like you did on all your favorite SNES platformers. Well you can't because this controller maps the 1 & 2 buttons on the Wii remote to Y & X. So just imagine trying to play Super Mario Bros with your thumb over Y & X, with the right analog stick in your way. The only games this controller works well with are games that support the original Wii classic controller since the mapping is the same, but at that point, save yourself some money and go buy a Nintendo made classic controller.
I'm not sure who would enjoy using this product when there is nothing it does that a different controller doesn't do better. Don't waste your money. I just returned mine to Amazon.
-use as wii mote
-connectable to iPad and android (can't use the classic controll scheme for some reason)
-looks nice doesnt feel cheap
-CAN NOT USE AS Wii U CONTROLLER PRO! (Dammit can't use to play ninja gaiden III)
-when using in super smash bros brawl , if you accidentally clicked the left analog, it does the B special -.-
- cant use analog in new super Mario bros U and Nintendo land
-the controller mapping for new super mario bros U sucks! I want to use Y to speed up/special and B to jump. Not Y for speed up/special and X to jump. I wish there was an option to reconfigure your buttons :/
-battery life sucks, probably as much or a little less than the wii u gamepad
If you are going to get this, just use for virtual console games or if you use a iPad,android or Pc/Mac , just pair it up with those.
The controller itself, once I got a working one, works just fine. It is *not* a Pro Controller for the Wii U. It is basically a Wii Controller + a Classic Controller add-on in one. They added some additional functions, and of course, it is shaped like a Wii U Pro Controller - but if you try to play a game on the Wii U that only works with a Pro Controller - this will not work. It will be recognized as a Wii Remote. It does work with both the Wii and the Wii U, but it's not a Pro Controller.
It did work with the games I wanted it to work with, so I am pleased. Just know there is likely going to be a hassle of returns, and it is not actually a Pro Controller for the Wii U.
1.You NEED to press the reset button on the back before you can connect this to anything.
2.Battery life takes as long to charge as it takes to kill it which = 3 hours. Be prepared to charge for long gaming sessions.
3.Instructions for controller orientation on the back may be confusing for many.
4.Not a Wii U pro controller so it's not compatible with games like Batman or Legend of Zelda Wind Waker but it works with CoD and eShop games.
5. D-Pad feels a little weird and you'll accidentally go left/right when you hit up, down and vice versa.
6.Controller joysticks allows you to move in 8 directions only which will feel mechanical when you see you're character moving in strict paths like I did in CoD or in Monster Hunter.
7.Right Joystick has super strong dead zones for games requiring accuracy so be prepared to turn you sensitivity much lower to play shooting games
8.triggers feel cheap
9.lastly, the joysticks click in and Left click presses "B" and right presses "X". This is more annoying than useful.
I hope this helps someone make a conscience decision on a controller. I still like the controller and use it as my primary controller otherwise
