Pro Se Press is one of the latest "New Pulp" publishers which took the new pulp world by storm a couple of years ago. They started of with 3 different pulp anthologies, but soon dropped them in favor of novels and focused collections.
With their "Pro Se Presents" of monthly 'magazines', they go back to their roots. This time, its with a smaller format (more digest size), smaller in length, and an improvement in design (IMO).
This is the second issue of Pro Se Presents, and this time we have 2 stories. The first up is cover story "Jupiter's Games" by J Wayne Goulet & Michael Montague, which introduces their new pulp hero John Preston Sterling. He is in the mold of other larger then life pulp heroes, aided by a group of loyal friends. This story is fairly short, being a little less then a third of the whole volume.
The rest of the volume is taken up by a new fantasy story, "The Silver Pentacle: To Kindle a Fire" by Nancy Hansen. Nancy has already published a fantasy novel with Pro Se, "Fortune's Pawn". I do not know if this story has any connection to that novel, but it appears that this could be the first of a new fantasy series.
