Don't risk your floors, carpets and other personal belongings to costly and ruinous water damage! Prevent flood damage and avoid costly repairs with the easy-to-install Washing Machine Valve Shutoff Kit. This system not only detects leaks early, but it automatically shuts your water off in the event of a leak, alerting you with the control panel's alarm. Incorporate the Flood Stop into your INSTEON or X10 network - the control unit has two NC outputs and plugs with 6" leads. Designed for both residential and commercial dwellings, the Washing Machine Valve Shutoff Kit uses a pair of automatic 9VDC 3/4-inch full port motorized ball valves to shut off the water supply whenever your washing machine leaks. The non-intrusive devices can be installed in as little as 10 minutes; no professional plumbers are required. This kit includes everything you need to protect your property from costly water-leak damage: valves installed on your hot and cold water inlets, a water sensor to be placed on the floor, and the control unit, which is mounted to your wall with the included screws. A power supply is included; you can also install four C batteries (sold separately) for backup power if desired. You can even add multiple water sensors for different areas around your washing machine. The Washing Machine FloodStop with Straight Valves is also available with 90 Degree Valves, sold separately. If your washing machine should begin to leak, the controller tells the water valves to close and alerts you with an 87db alarm. The system can also connect to an alarm, an automatic phone dialer, or both.

Right out of the box, there was one wire that was pulled out of the crimped connector. This is the wire needed to attach the water detection plate to the control unit. This could be fixed but I decided to test the valve units before installing. When I connected the valve units to the control unit and pressed "OPEN", both units opened fine. When I tried to close the units, one closed and the other did not. I switched the wires and the one that opened and closed fine still worked and the other was still stuck open. Next, I realized that the threaded fitting on one valve was not spinning freely (it was stuck to the valve body) and you need to turn the fitting to attach it to the threaded part of your water feed. Without the ability to spin freely, the entire valve unit would have to spun around and around to attach it to the water feed. I didn't get to that point.
I did manage to test the one valve and the water detection plate. If you watch the YouTube video/infommercial where the founder of the company shows the unit working on just one tiny droplet, you would think this is the way the unit is supposed to work Not so. It took quite a bit more water - which would probably be OK when you are having a flood - but it is certainly not as advertised.
Everything about the wiring is very cheap. For something that may need to be pulled though openings or from behind a washing machine, you would think that the company would make the wiring a little thicker.
I never write reviews but felt that this product is so poorly made, that I thought to try to save someone else from the issues that I had.
The installation is simple and straightforward. I would recommend checking it regularly by applying water to the sensor and checking for proper water shutoff.
